We went to Victor's meet and greet last night at the middle school. His homeroom teacher is TOTALLY awesome. She understood his need to state some oblivious fact when he feels he's being admonished. She suggested that we put Vic in an inclusion Social Studies and Science class which entails an aide coming into the class to check behind him to make sure his homework got turned in and assignments were written down. His homeroom teacher is the resource teacher so his homeroom is a grand total of 11 kids as opposed to the 22 that are in the mainstreamed classes. She even got him set up to be picked up by the special needs bus, even tho the principal tried to tell me that wasn't possible this week. How awesome is that?
Oh yeah, AND the resource teacher is going to set Vic up with an Alpha Smart, so he can stay up to date on his school work right off the bat. She asked about his obsessions with dinos and dragons and also about any quirks such as having to sit on the right side of the classroom and being first or last in line. MOST importantly, she asked for my email address last night so we could stay in constant contact. When I mentioned that maybe if Vic has trouble with getting his homework assignments written down, that the teachers could email them to him, she thought it was a wonderful idea IF we have that problem.
So Victor LOVES middle school. He actually can't wait to start on Monday now. He even already knows how to work his lock for his locker. I'm so glad to see him not dreading the first day of school for once in his life.

WHOOO HOO

That is awesome. I am so glad it is working out so well. I know you were nervous about new schools and all.
