Although a great many women have valid complaints about the men in their lives (especially those dealing with special needs kids), I have always maintained that I managed to snag myself "one of the good ones". He's got twice as much patience as I do, he does laundry, he cooks...I could go on and on. And no, we're not newlyweds. We've been together for over 15 years.
From time to time he'll do things that are so amazingly romantic it blows me away. For example, on our tenth anniversary a limo picked me up from work and drove me around on a scavenger hunt, with gifts and riddles at every stop that he'd pre-arranged with store personnel, until I deciphered that he was waiting for me in a honeymoon suite at a high end hotel.
Well last night I noticed a cryptic riddle on our memo board. When I asked him about it, he just flashed me a coy little smile, and rolled over to turn off the light.
Here's the riddle:
If I asked you to wear a disguise
Or wondered "is this what she likes"
I still wouldn't reveal the surprise
He knows that I struggle with autism advocate/stay-at-home mom lonliness. But the fact that he's kind enough to look outside of the box to brighten my spirits makes me realize just how special he really is.

NOw that is just TOOOO sweet. I am thrilled that lately I occasionally get flowers. Oh and DH let me buy myself a laptop for my birthday! I needed one for classes. OH and he does laundry too and watches the kids while I have class. Guess I will keep him, lol.
Hope you had a fun evening (wink wink)

Well I haven't figured anything out...although I think it has something to do with Valentine's Day next week. My guess is I'll get at least one clue a day between now and then.
No, he doesn't have a brother. Honestly, I think the reason he's so sweet is because he's an ASPIE! He remembers things that most people would normally forget, he knows he has to work hard at his relationships...and he refuses to fail at anything! LOL Hey, it works for me. From all appearances, our son (also an aspie) will end up just like his dad! He's in 3rd grade and today when he saw me at school he gave me a great big hug, a kiss, and told me he loved me. RIGHT IN FRONT OF A BUNCH OF PEOPLE!
Hehehehe...I just love feeling like a teenager again!
Amy
Dear Amy,
That is so great to hear!!! I am happy for you both, and esp. that part about you feeling like a teenager! And snagging a "good'un" is definitely worth the brag. Good for you, girl.
Mine's a good'un, too. BUT .... With both of us working fulltime, looking at more schools and still fighting DOE, running ds to therapy appts., playdates and homeschooling fulltime, there are no teenagers here, just old, old people who adore each other and sure do wish they had the ENERGY for a bit more teenager-type activity. We think about it, wish we could engage in a little more activity, make plans often to try, and then usually fall asleep holding hands...
Valentine's Day we have yet another visit to yet another school, plus 3 therapy appts. for ds that afternoon. We'll probably eat chocolate, drink wine, and fall asleep.
Sigh.
