we have VBS (vacation Bible School), Warren 16 & Amelia 14 will be doing a summer service camp (building/repairing homes for the less fortunate in SC) 2 different weeks, day camp for Owen and Martha in July, a weekend at a resort in Myrtle Beach (a new thing for us this year-- all inclusive, 4 pools, 3 restaurants, beach, tennis club, golf) hopefully it'll not be too crowded and swimming most of the day will be a good thing for Weston and Owen. Martha has summer school (dyslexia) but don't know the dates yet, a trip to Illinois to visit grandma and pa sometime in there-- maybe August so we can leave the hot and humid for more hot and humid-- fun-- and a trip to Chicago in there as well. I'm looking for an appropriate summer camp for Weston-- he can't do a nt kid camp, but don't know if he really fits in the special needs day camps either.

We go camping every summer with my sister-in-law and her family.

We've started an annual get-together at my sister's house in Up-State NY. We go for a week and camp out in their spacious yard; my dad stays in town at a hotel; and my other sister comes in for a few days. The boys get to see their cousins for the week and we do day trips to keep them entertained.

Other than that, we have Graham in a town arts camp with an aide, Miles is doing ESY and 1/2 day camp, and Anson will do ESY preschool. Need to keep them busy or they'll drive me crazy.

We'll be hitting Disney World Orlando for Mother's Day. Adam is SUPER EXCITED....we've been prepping him for the plane ride with books we found and we contacted the airline and the park knows we are coming and Adam is autistic so we got our "fast pass".

Every year the seven-week school summer holidays gets more and more like planning the D-Day landings, with me needing some kind of 3D matrix to keep track of everyone and everything....LOL This year it is further complicated by our financial limitations (we still haven't managed to sell our old house, so we are carrying two huge mortgages until we can sell). There is no tradition of 'camps' for kids in the UK, and there is little provision for working parents locally, so we have this complicated routine of grandparents, holiday clubs, trading annual leave days and going away together.

My mum is coming to stay for 3 weeks and (she is adament about this and we are 'in negotiations' over it LOL) taking the kids for a week to a remote cottage in the Scottish Highlands. The idea is that they run around, build dams and watch otters, seals and dolphins without easy access to TV, burger bars and other 'necessities' of their lives. I have a feeling I may have to go too or someone may get eaten or drowned, and the only thing stopping me is the fear that it may be me...:-) The older two are doing a holiday activity club for a week, then DH and I are taking two weeks off at home to chill out and do daytrips to places nearby that we haven't managed to see yet (more hiking in the Highlands, castles, very cold and windy beaches, zoo, aquarium, museums, etc). We are also booked for a week in a caravan park on the beach near Loch Ness which is, personally, my idea of hell but DH and the kids are so excited about it and it's the only way we can afford a 'beach' holiday. All I can say is, I hope bloody Nessie shows up, or there's going to be a riot (and that's just from me :-) I'm hoping the scenery and the whisky and castle tours are going to make up for the caravan park!

Next year, when we've sold the house (please!!) we have bigger vacation plans. We might look into a home exchange thing, because we live near a lot of places that visitors to Scotland would love to see (but we'd have to tidy up the house quite a lot LOL), or we may sell one of the children and go to Euro Disney. Ok, the kids (I'm including DH in this category) will go to Euro Disney, and I will run away to Paris. (you may have picked up that our family has very different definitions of what consitutes a 'good' vacation. I'm waiting for my 'real' family

I think this year we're cutting it tight to save money (and gas!), but we'll likely hit Kelly's Island for camping a few times.
