that rash looks very much like eczema or atopic dermatitis. Which is a very typical reaction for a dairy allergy.

I don't know how long you need to wait to see a difference w/ cleaning products. I've used all natural ones for quite a long time but didn't really see any changes in our kids. I feel better about using them so I continue doesn't hurt anything and it's better for the environment and cheaper on my wallet.

My 2 cents.

My son did react to heavy cream dairy products, ie cream cheese, whipped cream, butter.

So you didn't have to cut out all dairy, it really could be certain foods affecting him?

Milk allergies run rampant in my DH's family. He and our youngest DD are both very allergic to dairy. Angel so much so that even trace amounts make her sick, and a glass of milk can kill her. DH's allergy isn't quite that bad, but his health was really bad before the dr took him off dairy. His mum and dad are also both allergic, but their allergies are more 'normal'.

Symptoms of dairy allergy can include:

    Immune Reactions:
  • Frequent/constant respiratory leakage (runny nose, clogged upper sinus, ear wax build-up, etc)

  • Frequent sinus/respiratory infection

  • Frequent general illness

  • Apnea (excessive or unusually intense snoring, stops breathing for periods while asleep)

  • unusual or persistent painful rashes

    Primary Reactions:
  • Indigestion/heartburn (acid reflux)

  • Excessive digestive gases (burping, farting, belly gurgles)

  • Sweating

  • Drowsiness (falling asleep)

  • Fatigue (no energy)

    End Reactions:
  • Diarrhea or soft bowl movements

  • Watery bowl movements

  • Blood in stool

One symptom alone usually doesn't indicate a milk allergy. Typically someone will have several symptoms in varying degrees from two of the three lists. The most common allergic reactions to dairy are the 'primary reactions', AKA Lactose Intolerance. When most people think of milk allergies that's what they think of, but the primary reactions are by no means the whole of it. Most people who are lactose intolerant find that their energy and general health improves dramatically when they cut out all forms of dairy, not just the lactose. My MIL said she never even realized how much it was effecting her until she cut it out of her diet altogether. She has more energy, sleeps better, and where she had 3-4 colds a year she now has none.

With my DH, who is also a dx'd Aspie, we see a significant difference in his behavior insofar as crankiness, lethargia, etc. I always know if he's cheated on his diet (broke down and had pizza at work) because he gets very, very, cranky that day, and then sleeps the majority of the next day away. He also suffers from class 3 apnea, and his snoring will get a LOT louder, and he stops breathing for short periods at night (which freaks his cat out to no end... she'll sit on his chest and then smack him with a paw if he stops breathing, lol)

First, that is really funny about the cat!
He definitely gets unusual and VERY painful rashes on his bottom. He used to have acid reflux badly as a baby and the child sweats like no 3 year old should sweat. And he has very soft stools. So he has at least 1 from all categories. I guess I will be calling his dr. tomorrow and telling him I would like to see an allergist. Thanks for the info.
