Well we just got a diagnosis from the neurologist.

PDD & ADHD.

Thats what he put on the school form. And as prepared as I thought I might be, I didnt really ask any questions. I mostly listened. And I am going to wait for his report, before I really question... but Im curious.. Is PDD the same as PDD-NOS??

He said, he doesnt have Autism.. but has PDD, and its all a part of ASD, but its PDD..

It certainly *is* confusing, isn't it?

I can't say exactly what your professional meant by what he/she said, but I can give you my take on it.

PDD is the same as PDD-NOS, just a shortened form. It is on the autistic spectrum. Your child does not meet the criteria for Aspergers nor does he meet the criteria for classical autism, but some of the features are there. Enough to put him on the spectrum. No one has heard of PDD-NOS so I usually just say 'on the spectrum' or 'mild autism'. It doesn't really matter which, just which ever gets the point across. If they make the changes to the DSM that they are thinking of making, it will get easier because it's all going to become ASD with qualifiers such as mild, moderate, and severe.

So that's my 2 cents worth on the topic. lol

All autism spectrum disorders are PDD's, pervasive developmental disorders, so any kid with an autism dx automatically has a PDD.
