that if you can't me help then don't hurt me. There are people I don't care for but I would not go out of my way to hurt them. There are people I wish I could help but there's nothing I can do but wish them well. Which brings me to more of the story about the stabbing by a teen with aspergers at a local high school. A scientology group planned a protest today across from that high school for a "public airing of any drugs given to the teen accused of murder'. The church of scientology will hold a 20 ft banner stating: Psychiatry's toxic drugs cause suicide and acts of violence.
They are looking for the medicines and the names of the drs of ths teen involved.
A 20 ft banner requesting $ and research for autism would be much more beneficial for this world. Maybe instead of standing in protest these people could donate some time for parents to have respite. Maybe a silent prayer for the families involved instead of making spectacles of themselves. The town is spending $ for police details because of the protest, I'm sure the town budget has better uses of that $.
Enough from me I'm stepping off my soapbox.

Good point, well put.

Ironically, not too long ago in the news...one of the main leaders of the scientology group was stabbed and killed by her schizophrenic son. There were no groups of people with banners promoting medication, I'm sure!
You're right though. As parents of spectrum kids, we are forced to choose where we spend our energy very frugally. There is too much at stake and we only have a short amount of time to get them to where they need to go. Like you said...so you're either here to help or you're in the way. I would rather be a pathfinder than an obstacle monger. There is a distinctive loss of that pathfinder, pioneer spirit and sense of duty and ownership across the board in this country. It's not completely gone, but it's fading fast.
Anyone who would use a terrible tragedy as a stepping stone for their agenda loses any claim to respect and credibility. I wouldn't want to join a club which opportunes a child's death just so I can feel good inside about making a point. It makes me think of the "church lady" on Sat. Night Live. Yeesh!
UGH!
Ditto to all here. Well said. That is infuriating.
I still hold by my initial thought. This was a case where people were trying, it wasn't a bad kid and autism just got too big.
