Well, I met this morning w/ the Principal and the teacher. I basically told her that suspending my child for pushing someone (didn't cause any physical injury or pain) is excessive, given the fact that my child has a disability and a problem w/ impulsivity. I suggested they keep him in the office if this happens again, since he wants to be at home anyway. He used to love school and now, he calls himself a "weirdo," and says he hates school now. She kept saying he was dangerous at that point. I asked how could he possibly be dangerous if he's in the office, rather than at home? She kept giving me the same rehearsed answer like a robot. I finally told her that we should just agree to disagree. She's actually a nice lady and maybe she just doesn't get it. Maybe she's just pretending to be a nice lady. I don't know. I think she will really think about it the next time she wants to suspend him. Otherwise, I'll have to let my (frustrated) husband on her! ;)
Thanks for listening to my little rant.
I appreciate all your support and advice.
Irene :)
