Tina, I'm just reading a potty training book my PT gave me about training kids on the spectrum. In it there is a whole section on refusing to toilet in unfamiliar places. They say kids with autism sometimes are overwhemlmed by all the noise(noisey blowdryers or automatic flushers) they hear in a public restroom. They suggest using cue cards and bringing familiar things like toilet paper, wipes or a favorite toy. Also it say to use ear plugs if the child is sensitive to noise.I don't have any personal advice for you because we are just at the start of potty training hell(LOL) but I think the difficulty going potty in public places seems more like a sensory thing. The book is called "Toilet Training for individuals with Autism and related disorders" by Maria Wheeler. HTH, Teresa
