Pray for us its the ELAs!

It is that time of year for us here in NY. It is the ELA tests. The state test. That lovely thing that GWB helped create with his LNCB policy. For the next 3 days the 6th graders will be sitting down to this lovely test. They get to read and answer questions. And they get to write essay after essay for the next 3 days. And my Aspie Josh is one of them. Last year he blew the dang thing by 4 points. I was wondering who graded that one and why they couldn't find them.
He will hopefully have all of his little safties in place. Extended time, quiet area etc. We will make sure the Focalin is on board. He had a whole month of extra help in prep for that.
But i figure he will be a beast for the next 3 days. But the positive: his birthday is Friday. And he will be going camping with the scouts over the weekend for 2 days. So hopefully he won't be a total beast by the time this whole thing is over. But we may get the delayed effect by Monday.

So pray that all involved survive. Hopefully you won't be reading any obits for us. My toungue will survive being bitten And the fallout will be minimal.
And most of all pray they find those damn 4 points this time around!

My kids love testing week. Isnt that sick but ....

Testing week is VERY quiet in class
Sensory activities are done as part of the day (crunchy snacks, motor breaks, brain gym)
They get to work independently and at thier own pace.

This year may be different. Mike is starting to get stressed about doing well and his fluency is pretty far behind so we shall see. Ours are in the spring.

But as a teacher, I am not a fan of NCLB and overuse of standardized testing

Day 1 is done.not sure of the fall out yet. Josh had a dentist today after school and he is with DH so he is not home yet. The positive note less home work but he has some studying to do for SS.
Day 2 is tomorrow.
