I just gotta.
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Thank you very much.
Seems that my son has decided to have the very rare negative reaction to risperadol. I guess in very rare cases it can makes kids quite hyper to the point of manic. It has been building over the last week or 2. He has been on it 3 weeks. Very typical of Mike, new med appears to work for a short time then BAMMO, watch out. The first 2 days back from camp he did well at school then it started going downhill. Not aggression, just hyper, distractable, more crying outbursts, etc. Today it was so bad his aide could barely keep him on task and he was jumping out of his skin. He had a pdoc appt tonight and she said right away it was the med. She has seen it only a very few rare times and usually when kids are on tiny doses still and haven't really been on that long.
She switched him to abilify. Crossing my fingers but our history being what it is, I am not terribly hopeful.
This just sucks in a big way. There is no med that works for him, not a single class and yet without he cannot function unless you hide him away from life and interactions.

I know what it is like to think you have found the answer and then have the rare reaction. I know it has happened to you more than once. I'm sorry. I don't think the tenth disappointment is any easier than the first one. In fact, I think it is harder.
OK. so that was no help at all.
((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))
It that better?
Maybe Ablify will be the charm?

David got manic on Risperdal, and does fine on Abilify.
Abilify worked well for Liam for a while, but I am beginning to think our pdoc was veeeeery resistant to upping med doses.
I'm sorry, Renee. I hope the new one works. That must be so frustrating.
Hannah's not having any side effects that we can tell from the prozac. She is willing to stay in most rooms of our house alone now except my bathroom where she showers and not at night. It is a little progress though. She isn't sleeping nights still but I know its partly habit now. I need to do my part but I've just been way to tired to do it. With prozac you need to wait a month to see what the real results will be. So we are hoping it will get better.
hang in there, Renee.

Did the mood stabilizer, it was evil. The first day he cried for 2 hours for no reason. It got worse from there.
Meds are not our friend.

Since we also like to ride the "Rx Rollercoaster" I have no advice...just hugs. And lots of cyber wine. Of course, it is 8:12 a.m. where I'm at...so that makes it even earlier in CA...maybe wine isn't such a good idea at this moment...:-)

NO but I will take coffee! Really really really need coffee. It is now 6:20 and I have been up for a while.
I usually get up at 6:30 but Cait got me up a while ago. Her eyes are all red again and itchy this am. She has an allergy to something and this started just a few months ago on and off. If it is to her med I am going to scream for sure. We thought it was the cat but she was no where near the cat.

Hehehe...my coffee has gone cold. I should probably get up for a refill, but that would mean stepping away from all of you wonderful ladies!

Siobhan and I get occaisional itchy eyes too. I think it is a seasonal allergy -pollen or something. I do find that the cat is an irritant when the allergy starts, but if the original trigger (don't know what it is) is not around, the cat has no effect.
Claritin helps. The eye drop
