How do you all pronounce "Asperger's"?
Well, I've been saying "Ass-burgers"--LOL btw--because the ped. psych. said it that way.
Now my mom has started saying "Ass-bur-jurrs" because she saw that special "Autism: Oh the Possibilities!" on PBS the other day, and that's how they said it.
????
Are any of you close personal friends with Dr. Asperger? Could you ask him?
I don't have any idea what the proper pronunciation would be.
Sorry.
Yep the initial syllable to my knowledge is A$$. Which can lead to some teasing but it sure it memorable.

yep I've been saying a$$ - burgers too.
I like Ahs burgers better, but if I change now Isaac will have no idea what I'm talking about lol
Dr. Asperger died in 1980, so the only way to ask him would be to hold a seance.
I speak some German

ROFL! in South Carolina they just draw everything out, each syllable takes a day to say! so it even sounds more like AAAAAAAAASSSSSSS-buuuu-GUUUUUS. and you're likely to get an extra spit from the PB sound as well. :-) but since I'm from IL and speak like a typical midwesterner I say ass-pergers, w/ more of a p than a b sound.

AMEN LR.
Ihave to post a abstract about this. Every time I have tried to explain AS to some stranger I get either the funniest looks or the Rudest comments. "A$$ What?". I have gone to just autism.
I started a while back when I first told Cait about her AS. She had just read a book about a little girl with AS and when I told her the response what an excited "You mean I have autism like Daisy?". Well that was it. From the mouths of babes. We put too much confusion in stuff. Autism is autism. ASD covers it well.
I have "asperger" cards that explain things great. I just wish they said "autism" instead. So I give out a basic autism card as well as the AS card with my number on it when the occasion arrises. The AS card says it is an autism spectrum disorder so hopefully that works well enough.
