Ok so I have a DS (with aspergers) that is fixing to be ten. He has started getting pimples (and I mean the nasty I grew another head pimples), and he is slimming but growing. I know puberty is around the corner, but I was (hoping it would pass us by and he would stay my little boy forever) I still had time to prepare. Couple days ago my DS came to me, he is interested in the human body has posters and such and he knows that sometimes they refer to the gential area as the pubis, So he asked "Why does my pubis get stick out sometime? I keep trying to push it back in but it wont go" OH BOY. I averted the question and told him that was a wonderful question for his father since I dont have one. His response was "What?!?" OH BOY AGAIN. Is it wrong that he doesn't know that boys and girls are different? He is extremely smart, but immature. How do you explain to a child that his body is going through puberty when his mind isnt? My husband wants to sit down and say "Ok here it is" my mother thinks the "birds and the bees talk is warrented NOW bc kids are having sex younger and younger these days, I want to get a textbook and teach him like sex ed in school.

I found a couple of books at the local library, but I can't think of the names of them (I think I'd referenced one in a post long ago -- now in archives).
