Hmm..I think I may be headed for my very first 'fight'....
DD, 3yrs, 3mos is finishing up her first year in a mixed pre-k classroom and honestly she is doing quite well. When she started, she was almost non-verbal, and lately, she has gotten very talkative, no always actual words, but verbalizations, babbling etc...the stuff she should have been doing around age 1 to 18 months. Well, she had been qualified for a new intensive Applied Verbal Behavior Analysis program our county recently started which essentially would have been intensive one-to-one work within the classroom environment, with 8 weeks in the summer. However, in the last month, again, she is starting to become more verbal. Apparently the re-tested her verbal skills and now she is no longer a slam dunk for the program, she is border-line and here is where I am stuck.... I THINK I really would like her to start this program if she is still within the parameters. If she gets there and starts to progress too quickly etc... then she can be returned to our home school, which is where she is now, and to the current teachers who i love. Her teacher said she thought they might monitor her progress through the summer and see how much more progress she makes and maybe just keep her where she is...she is only three so she has 2 more years of pre-school. Am I crazy for wanting to move her? I mean, I guess I am willing to take the chance on the intense program because I have the back up of already knowing her home school teachers etc...but I keep thinking, Her biggest challenge is the language/speech issues so I'd rather go at them intensively now, while she is so young.....
She doesn't have any issues with separating, or new environments etc... so I know after the first few days, unless she had an issue with the teacher....she'd be okay with the transition.... any thoughts????
Her IEP meeting is June 7.

It sounds to me like sending her is still a good idea. I hope you can make them see that. Good luck.
