Question re Homeschooled HFA/AS/PDD Students
Is your child with HFA/AS/PDD now or have they been homeschooled? Are they in a residential placement out of the area (NYC/Queens/Nassau/Suffolk) or are you searching for appropriate placement?
We are trying to get an idea of how many families have had to home school their child with HFA/AS/PDD and related conditions, particularly if this has occurred due to concerns about the education or environment of the child’s educational placement.
Please include information on what type of program your child was placed in following home schooling and/or if they are now in home schooling.
Please also include the age when home schooled, why home schooling was chosen and the outcome of the current placement. Any additional information you would care to share.
Please respond by email – PatS@ahaNY.org or by fax 516.470.0362
Thank you!

Thanks Rina,
You know I will be in touch with her.
And thanks for other info on PS 112, although I am of course now having trouble actually finding out any real information other than that article. I am now wondering if the newspaper somehow got the name of the program wrong, because there is an autism program being created that is about 4 years old with classrooms dispersed around the City but it is called PS 226. Again, we are having hard time getting actual info! Whatever...

The email list if you sign up with it is a great resource Sara because she gives alot of info from around the lower NY area. It includes Long Island and the city. Including upcoming lectures and parenting classes in addition to anything involving laws and Court cases.Etc
But I put up certain info as I get it because I know of your struggles. And I think this group can help you. Maybe she can help you with that other program. And the list will help you keep up to date.
