OMG- so first a fight today with my ex-h now this!!!!!!

So, on Weds my Kindergartener started school. On Thursday they sent a project home to send in a sheet of paper with pics of his family. So ON THURSDAY I send the following email to my ex, his 2 sisters and mom ---

"Hi All - Nathan's homework for over the weekend is to get some family pics to put on an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper. I have a nice shot from his first day of school with me, mark, the boys and the dog, that will be at the top, however, we need a few pics of dad's side of the family, so either one of each couple (family for Annette), or one of all of you together, and one of the boys with the baby, I'm sure there is a good one out there! The page isn't big, so we're going to try to squeeze some pics in. The project is due on tuesday, so it's kinda short notice. If you send pics by email, I'll put them on a disk and take them to cvs to process them on actual picture paper.

2-3 pics that include all of you would be great!!! that leaves room for a big one of the 4 of us in the middle and 2-3 smaller ones of my side as well!"

here was the response from my former MIL law who I usually have an ok relationship with:

"YES THIS IS KIND OF SHORT NOTICE, WHEN WERE YOU NOTIFIED OF THIS HOMEWORK? DO YOU NOT HAVE A SINGLE PHOTO OF YOUR CHILDREN'S GRAND PARENTS, TWO AUNTS AND NEICE"? I AM ON MY WAY OUT THE DOOR AND WAS JUST CHECKING THE EMAIL FOR WORK. IF POSSABLE I WILL MAKE HIM A PHOTO SHEET FROM PICTURES THAT I MIGHT HAVE OTHERWISE YOU NEED TO NOTIFY US OF THESE THINGS AHEAD OF TIME. AND YES I AM UPSET BECAUSE I WOULD HAVE ENJOYED TAKING THE TIME TO LOOK FOR THESE THINGS BECAUSE I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO GET INTO PICTURES AND SEND THEM EMAIL AND JACQUELYNE AND ANNETTE ARE NOW GONE.
DONNA"

WTF?

What's next I wonder?

You just reminded me of one of the things I HATE about school.

Yes, totally crappy! But c'mon. My ex husband doesn't have a picture of my family on his fridge (I do have a pic of his whole family with my kids from last summer at Martha's Vineyard). What former daughter in law is kind enough to say, hey, you're part of my kids life and let me get some pics? I mean she's always been rough towards me, but I thought since she settled that I moved the kids an hour away and their dad followed things were ok. We've had several pleasant conversations.

It's a miracle I have a picture from Wednesday of myself, my kids and my ex-husband holding MY new family's dog! lol... we have off days (as I posted about earlier as well), but really we usually work really hard to be good to each other and give our kids good memories. My dh's exwife wouldn't allow their dd to walk to school with him (the school is across the street from our house, and arrived 25 minutes late so he couldn't even walk in with her!). However, me, my dh, my exh and my boys and my dog all walked up together!

UGH I try to be fair and do the right thing, but dammit if I haven't had enough already! LIke dealing with all the back to school issues for 2 nt kids and an aspie isn't overwhelming enough, but now i'm fighting with everyone!

OK... tat's my rant. I had a total abdominal hysterectomy 3 weeks ago yesterday and I kinda wish someone could just give me a tit's worth of slack here!

Thanks for the reply.

Hi,

Yep, you sound like you've got enough on your plate without having to deal with her little temper tantrum. I'd have a really hard time not telling her to stuff it sideways. I didn't really get on all that great with my inlaws so I can feel your pain. I guess my best advice would be to ignore that and be proud of the fact that you are trying to include your ex's family in your child's life. Take care : )
