((((((((Dee))))))),
I wish I had some ideas, but only hugs I'm afraid.

Hi Dee, first of all lots of hugs. I don't have any deep thoughts but misery loves company so I wanted you to know you are not alone.
I can't speak to the medication aspect, but we are still in the seasonal monitoring phase to see if there are patterns. Eric will be 5 in April. He too has developed dark circles in the last month. Also, we are seeing some of the same OCD stuff as this time last year, though a much milder version. I looked back at my old emails and it was almost exactly a year ago that we were having terrible rages combined with bad OCD stuff that was totally new for Eric. Then the OCD stuff ended and the mania began around June, so we are watching for that again.
My DH had a thought about the circles that they are allergy related, which could be, and therefore seasonal/cyclical too. Our questions still are whether Eric's OCD/mood stuff is just more ASD stuff, or bipolar, or maybe some physiological basis, or some combo.
Last year we found out about all Eric's gastro troubles and once those were treated his really bad (by "bad" I mean, got in the way of his functioning)ritual stuff did stop. What we are dealing with now is more stimms gone wild, and there is much less moody raging. Then there are the dark circle thing that makes me think it could be something allergy or physical.
Anyway, I seem to be babbling and not offereing advice, but I can relate, though Eric's stuff is minor by comparison and I only have one child.
Neurologist's suggestion, as always is SSRI's but we just don't think that is needed yet, so like last year, we are going back to Neuropsych for a second opinion. Last year the psych sent us to the GI and that turned out to be a big part of the problem. Anyway, I'm sorry to ramble. But we are seeing the same seasonal cycles as you (at least last year and this year to date) and we're going to look at problems like allergies etc. too in addition to ASD mood stuff.
With Eric, it's kind of like things that cause him physical discomfort that he can't really explain set off his OCD, stimmy, raging kind of behavior that somehow seems different from "normal ASD" behavior. If that makes any sense.
Hang in there.
Katherine
For my kids dark eye circles are either food allergy/intolerance, or medicine intolerance. Kyle has dark circles (& red cheeks) right now because we ran out of digestive enzymes. Hannah got dark circles when the doctor prescribed her transdermal glutathione.
I hope he gets getter soon.

Wow, I had to reread this a few times to get my head around it. But I think I know what you mean now. What foods would be high in tyramines?

Dee,
I was put on a low tyramine (or was it tyrosine? No matter. One is a precurser to the other.) diet for
