We are relocating to North Carolina, Mooresville area. I have heard some really good things about the area but I was wondering if anyone knows how the schools are for kids with asperger's? One of the reasons we are moving is to find a better education for our DS 11 who is dx with Aspergers, we have no support here where we are currently living. He just started middle school and things are already a bit stressful. thanks!

Gee isn't that right near where TEACCH is located? I think they are based out of UNC or something similar. I am horrible with names and it escapes me now. Anyway, I would guess there are loads of parents and resources in that area to contact. If you go to the TEACCH website I think they may have local information there as well. We used to have a poster here that lived near there but I haven't heard from her in a while. There are others I would bet though.
Best of luck. I will try to look up some info and see what I can find.

thanks Renee...I want to tell you I admire you considerably. I have read a lot of your previous posts and I struggle day to day and sometimes when things get real tough, like IEP meetings and school issues, I actually do think of you and other people who are also struggling. it sounds like you have some wonderful kids there....best of luck this school year :) and thanks for any information you can find :)

Awe shucks, now I am blushing ;-)
I am going to add a couple links hoping the link monster doesn't eat them. If it does I will later post how to get to the sites instead.
First is autism society of North Carolina -this link was attached to Project TEACCH website
http://www.autismsociety-nc.org/
Then project teach - http://www.teacch.com/
There are a few more I can't find right now but I will look some more after I get the kids to school.
