Roan is a sensory seeker-help!!!!

I posted this on the SID board too. here's the deal. Roan DOESN"T SLEEP!!!!! At least at night. It takes forever to get her to sleep and then she'll go maybe two hours at a stretch. We are co-sleeping as when in her crib we are up all night with her, at least in with us it's not as bad. Lately Roan has been seeking out my chest and head to sleep on....yes she sleeps on my head and no it's not comfortable. She's like a cat looking for the warmest spot, although with Roan I am beginning to think it's more and more sensory. Now in terms of other issues, great eye contact, social (flirtatious even) and speech is coming along. Still, Liam was the same way, and it wasn't until 2.5 that Liam's issues became more pronounced.

Honestly I don't think Roan is spectrum, but I do think there is some definite sensory seeking going on. How do I get help for this? Oh and btw, she still nurses, refuses a bottle and barely acknowledges the sippy. Oh man, not again!!!!!! It's like Liam but with less hyperactivity.

Dee,

It might just be a little bit of immaturity in the sensory processing system. The good news is you are catching it VERY early. It is

Dee,

Is she walking yet? The reason I ask is because before both of mine started walking they started to get very needy and clingy to me. It was almost like they knew independence was looming and although they wanted that it was scary at the same time, KWIM?Ella didn't sleep through the night until she was a year old and we swaddled her like a newborn until she was about 9 months old because that was the only way she would sleep. Is it only at night you see these issues?

Paula-I thought about brushing but am not ready to go there yet. My concern with EI is everything else is on target, almost advanced and during the day she certainly doesn't meet any need for intervention. I think they'll poo poo me (lik they did with Liam...there's irony). I just need the girl to sleep for more than 2 hours and preferably not on my head....arrrgh.

Teresa-Yes night is the worst. However she hasn't slept through the night EVER. We are lucky to get 2 hours at a stretch. I'm sure you know I am a walking zombie. Yes she is more clingy these days. We tubed her last week (many many ear infections), and walking is coming (took a few steps but still prefers crawling).

I would be willing to do something at home, perhaps massage is a start, thanks me Irish flowers!!!

I would probably just keep any eye on things and make notes. That is what I have been doing for my daughter. I would say since she turned 2.5 too, I have noticed some odd things, but I feel if i took her to the doctor now, I would be dismissed again. She is also an extreme sensory seeker and has always been...we joke how she will eat anything...so I know what you mean about questioning things.

Dee,

Circumstances were very different back then. EI in MD poo-pooed you back when Liam was the first kid you were going through this with.

You are now in GA and you have two kids already
