Hi all,
I'm Dee (Deirdre to my Mum when I'm in trouble, lol). I was born and raised in Ireland but been living in the States for 10 years exactly. I have three kids, Liam (8) hf asd, Cian (5) aspie and Roan (18 months) a little quirky in her own way but not at all spectrum.
This summer we are doing the therapy suicide run, lol. We finally got OT going for them both and speech for my little lad. Wealso have squeezed in some social skills group for both. Finally we are spending a week in Florida in a rented house with the extended in laws....should be ahem interesting, lol. I'll need a vacation after that....oh and some valium:)

I'm Heather.
Hi,
I'm Pam in Ontario, DH Steve and we have Owen (7 AS) and Laura (almost 5 NT).
I'm Debbi. I'm 43, married, and mom to 3.
Hi, I'm Cari, 26, mom of three, DD 6 (7 on the 25th) NT possible adhd, DS 3 (4 on the 14th of July) PDD-NOS, and Matty 2 NT from what I can tell but mimics brother so its a bit confusing, lol.
Jeffrey was just diagnosed with PDD-NOS and we are still in the proccess of having all the evaluations done. So thats what my summer is going to be like, that and swimming in my moms pool, lol.
Hi I'm Sara, wife to Cliff and mother to Malcolm (PDD-NOS, 11 in less than 2 weeks eek!) and we live in the culturally-rich, educationally-impoverished City of New York, New York. Malcolm is now so tall that he is at my nose and I'm quite tall for a woman. Scary, also those hormones are kicking in a bit, but hey, that's to be expected. Malcolm just started a 6 week BRILLIANT social skills day camp, he did this same one last year, and we all couldn't be happier. During the year we home school, as there seems to be NO OPENINGS IN APPROPRIATE PROGRAMMING anywhere in NYC to be found, and believe me, we have looked high and low. Nevertheless, he is flourishing in home schooling, has great friends and activities and is just a super kid.
The camp works on appropriate social interactions and spends all day playing sports, taking trips to beaches and museums, having fun while working hard therapeutically. I wish I could go to a camp like this one. Then Malcolm is off for his first trip away to visit my sister in MN, Cliff and I are NOT INVITED. So that will be amazing. And then after that in the middle of August, all 3 of us will spend 2 weeks on Martha's Vineyard doing a theatre camp where I also work as an acting teacher and Cliff will no doubt get roped into working backstage again while Malcolm sings and dances in a musical!
On weekends in and amongst all this, we will head out to Poconos where we share a little vacation house with a friend, so time in the country. Busy, good summer, it's our very favorite time of year.
Hi, I'm Gabby.....
I am engaged to my High School sweetheart, but it took a long time and many broken hearts to get where we are.
HI, I'm Chrystee, wife to Casey and mom to Sam (9, AS, ADHD) and Harrison (3, NT but still a handful.)
Sam was invited to attend an academic summer school this year so we've elected to try him there this summer instead of sending him to the district's ESY. Instead of 9-2 every day, he'll be going 830-1130 Tue, Wed and Thurs. He'll be with more typical kids than the ESY. I'm hoping he'll meet some different kids than he's met during the regular school year and make a friend or two. Right now he has one very close friend but sometimes we just need to take a break from him as he has his own issues to deal with.
We'll be going to visit the in laws in Maine for the 4th, and there will be lots of trips to the beach, zoo and playground I'm sure.
Hi I'm Lainie,
I have 3 children.
I should chime in on me own roll call hehehe,
I am Paula, 40, Irish-from-Ireland, but now living on Long island. I am mom to Peter, almost 10 (eeps!) who is HFA (High-functioning Autistic) but that is really a technical term at this point. He has made so much progress that you would hardly see it most of the time. However, Pete got and still gets loads of help at school. He is mainstreamed now, but he gets PT OT Speech, resource room and a weekly social skills group with the school psychologist and another Aspie (and yes. We are spoiled rotten!). I first joined this board about 6 years ago, so any of the "oldies" who remember me coming in here crying about Peter getting sent to a special school for Kindy or being kicked out of daycare will appreciate how far he has come.
My other child is Siobhan (DD) 8-going-on-13 and "at risk for Asperger's Syndrome". She also gets help at school with resource room and speech therapy, but she was always less impacted than her brother. Funny thing as they get older: Her social skills are worse than his now. I think it is because he got so much intensive therapy so much sooner than she did. Or maybe she is just an ornery wee thing ;)
I have my own set of issues: I have ADHD and intractable atypical seizures. Just yesterday I was DXed with Cognitive Disorder NOS (LOL). I am scheduled to have a full neuropsych eval next week. (Aren't special needs FUN?)
This summer I am packing the kids off to summer school in the mornings and we plan to kick back in the town pool in the afternoons. I was just invited to attend a weddign in Ireland in the summer and I am toying with the idea of leaving the monsters with their Da and escaping off by myself for a week. Am I awful?
