Rotten bus driver... GRRRR!!!

I went outside to meet Haley's bus. I stand on one side of the street and the bus drops her off on the other. I motion for her to cross, and all is good. We do this every day without a single problem. Today it was a substitute driver. We did what we always do. Haley was half way across the street when the driver lays on the horn, looks at me and raises her hands like she has a problem with us.
Haley is ultra sensitive to very loud, sudden noises so she went straight into a crying fit. I took her by the hand, went to the bus and asked the driver if there's a problem. She gave me a huge attitude about Haley not being allowed to cross til she tells her to. Didn't speak to me with respect, just gave me a snotty attitude. I didn't appreciate it and went off on her for scaring Haley to death. I warned her not to do that again and took Haley in the house. I immediately called the bus garage and filed a complaint. The guy said he will speak to the driver about it. He tried to make it clear that it is procedure for them to honk at the kids to stop them from crossing. I said that's all fine and dandy except you are dealing with a child that is very sensitive to loud noises and is now home crying and shaking. She can't even speak without falling apart. THAT is not acceptable! And then for the driver to cop an attitude with me? Oh... I don't think so.
What a lovely way to end the day. *sigh*

I'm so sorry that that happened.
Thanks Heather. She's feeling better now but still talks about being scared. She said the bus driver was scary in general. I hope they never call her back in. And it wasn't even the horn that really set me off. It was the snotty attitude she took with me and with Haley. It was uncalled for and I was going to let her know it. Of course she still didn't get it. Probably never will. **rolling eyes**
I wrote the teacher to give him a heads up in case Haley has any problems after the bus ride to school this morning. Please let it be her regular driver today!!! He responded and apologized for not talking to the bus driver about Haley yesterday. He knew it was a sub. I don't blame him though. He had no way of knowing something like this would happen and it certainly isn't his fault that this woman is in the wrong line of work. Like I told him, it wouldn't have mattered if he did talk to the driver. She didn't care when I talked to her and she was apparently "mean" to a lot of kids according to Haley.
I may end up driving her from now on. Just need to figure out if I can. We only have one car, the school is 20 minutes away and husband has lots of appts right now due to him preparing to be discharged from the military next month.
On a bright note though, she had a fantastic day at school yesterday and even sat right down and got her math homework done last night with minimal help. I just hope today goes equally as well.
