School meeting tomorrow..wish us luck!

Hi gals,
Tomorrow is our first of 2 meetings with the school team to go over the results of Nick's evaluation report. One positive thing as I was reading his report, based on our GADS survey and the teachers responses, Nick came out high/high probable, which is good and the acknowledged it in the report too. All of the problems he has with the ADHD and sensory issues are addressed as well as the Asperger's. It doesnt seem as they are denying anything exists. Of course it helps that he has already been dx'd by the same Children's hospital that they partner with too. They see the same problems as detected in our evals we had done at Children's by the OT/speech dept's so that helps. Next we will be off to the official IEP meeting to actually write it, I am supposed to get a draft on Wednesday which is good as we are going to a seminar on how to write an effective IEP being held by the Autism Society of America on Wednesday night. What timing, eh? No mention of an aide yet, but I am still going to push for it...wish us luck...

That sounds great. I wish they would hold a seminar like that in my area. Every year I think we have it right and as the school year progresses I find we've left something important out. Good luck at the meeting.
