Seems my inflated balloon is losing air...fast.
Isaac's kindy year started out great - services were being provided, communication was great with the teacher, he thrived in the routine.

Dear Debbie,
Poor Isaac. That is very hard, and I do understand how hard it is to hear and feel that pain. We also have the bed thing, that's when I found out lots about the pop-tarts...
Of course, the largest class we ever had Malcolm in was 12 kids and that was too chaotic and loud for him!!! Some days I do feel like we should just figure out how to homeschool for a few years, although just thinking about it completely exhausts me.
((((HUGS)))) and good luck with how you are going to talk with the IEP team. Of course you are going to discuss his feelings with them, and how are they going to feel accused when his problems are inherent to the situation, not something they are doing "wrong"? Maybe someone else will have some good ideas, I'm just sure that speaking from your heart will do...
Sara
P.S. We gonna meet up in MN Dec. 26 or 27? I did email you back, did you get it? Cuppa joe?
((((((Debbie)))))
This is my biggest fear of starting Bobby in Kindy next year!!

Debbie,
Some kids need a smaller class. The largest class Peter was ever in had 11 kids and that was a nightmare.

I still think that if he did well for so long that perhaps it is the stress of the holidays, time change, etc. which is making challenging things he can normal cope with uncope-able.
25 is very large for Kindie. Is that all day like that? Last year Dave had a large class but it was 16 in the early AM for thier core classes, then the other 16 would join them for a couple hours making a class of 32, then the 16 late bears would stay after the early ones left for thier core classes (reading, etc). It wasn't great but it was doable because it only was a couple hours and the more social, easy type stuff. Does the class get smaller for first grade? In Cali most schools are such that 1-3 graders are in classes of 20 then it increases in 4th.
I think there are some modifications the school can make to help him. If he has been so successful for the first 3 months AND you have a school that is so willing to work with you, then I would be very reluctant to change classrooms for him until I tried a few things first.
Does he have an aide who could take him for regular sensory breaks? If not is there an option for him to go to the resource room or elsewhere when for sensory breaks or when he feels overwhelmed? Head phones or ear plugs for independent work. Sensory diet or fidgets in class. Perhaps if neccessary, regular pull outs to the resource room for classes which are overwhelming to him.
Good luck! Let us know how the meeting goes.
Renee
Joe on the 27th sounds great.
Thanks Tina.
I was worried about this too - and really thought we had gotten past it, but alas....nope.
I'm glad Bobby will have a 1:1, that will probably make all the difference for him.
Thanks again for the kind words.
Thanks for the tip Paula.
Thanks Renee.
I do think the time change has something to do with it along with less daylight hours.
Well the meeting went pretty well.
