There aren't enough emoticon choices...Confused works best...Along with happy/sad/scared.
I'm talking about ME - LOL. Josh is actually excited about starting 5th grade at a new school.
I registered him at the new school earlier this week - one line on the info sheet was "Has your child received additional services at his/her previous school?" I checked yes, and on the 2" long line, wrote "OT for handwriting and motor skills". School secretary was looking the form over and says "Tell me MORE about Joshua." So I went into the short version of Josh's life/quirks/delays, etc. She said "Does he receive any other outside services?" I said "Nottawa said they had other kids 'worse off' than him and did not evaluate him for anything else." She clapped her hands together, said "OK" spun around, grabbed 2 more papers off her desk and said "Sign these also - WE will take care of him." Additional papers were a permission sheet for evaluation by the special ed department AND a permission sheet for outside services. She said they will evaluate sometime during the first few weeks of school.
That done - we went off school clothes shopping. Near meltdown at the shoe store - the child does not understand that Boy's size 6 tennies are hard to find WITHOUT laces. He absolutely abhores tying shoes. We finally found a pair and off for clothes we go. Bee-line to a rack of long sleeved hooded tshirts. *SIGH* He'd done without his hoodies for the summer and I was hoping they were a thing of the past, but nope...Gotta have hoodies for school mom. (He "hides" in the hood at recess).
Wish us luck. I think we're finally in a district big enough to help me get the help I need for Josh.

LUCK!!!!!!!!
The new school sounds positive or at least proactive. here's hoping!

As long as they KEEP being pro-active I'll be happy.
His last district said they'd evaluate if they found it necessary - but when I mentioned it I was told that "other students need more help than he does." 'Other students' being primarily un/under-medicated ADHD-ers. Since Josh was quiet and for the most part progressing academically they basically let him slip through the cracks.
sounds like a great school. Vibes for a wonderful year++++++++++
