She used the vacuum cleaner!!!

Well, some old-timers from my days of Cl-ing the SID board may remember the story of the disaster we had with Siobhan and the vacuum cleaner when she was about 2½. Suffice to say the incident ended with a dead Hoover, a hurt 2yo, a smoky room and a grinning 4yo.

SO today, Siobhan and I are home alone, and she is drawing while I clean. So I give the standard vacuum cleaner alert. First she surprises me by staying downstairs. (usually she locks herself in her room) Then... THEN: She asks if she han have a try?

After I picked myself off the floor (bad knee, you understand), I agree and she merrily vaccuums the living room for several minutes!

So for Moms of younger kids: There is hope. I never, NEVER thought I would see this day.

CONGRATULATIONS, PAULA AND SIOBHAN!!!

Wow, that is very very cool.

We recently graduated from walking extra blocks around where he could see a church tower (might have bells, you know), so I can totally relate. Although the old way used to be healthier LOL. And interim, we had him under the back end of my coat (if we needed to walk by 'cuz we were in a hurry), so it looked like I had 2 pairs of legs! Kinda awkward walking and him so big, but we got pretty good at it.

ANYWAYS, maybe Siobhan will now want to take over the vacuuming, having slayed the beast and all. Just a thought.

That's great news Paula. It is so wonderful to see them overcome things isn't it? I hope that continues. I love these hope stories. I have a seven year old and my hope is that she learns to swim and get in the pool without a fuss and having to hold onto someone or the wall.

Take care.

Sara,

I was planning to research documented sightings of the four-legged coat lady of NYC for my "fairy stories your mother never told you" book. Good to know I won't have far to look ;). But it sounds like the coat lady will soon be a thing of the past, which is great news, really. It's amazing to look back sometimes and see how far baby steps can actually take you.

ROFL. I doubt Siobhan will volunteer for that job anytime soon (or ever), and even if so, she didn't do a very good job yesterday. I guess it was her first time, and practice makes perfect.

LOL.....the dead Hoover story must be pretty good....LOL! I have an "Evil Automatic Flushing Urinal" story that is pretty entertaining.....at least it is now, not at the time it was happening. Anyway.....Way to go Siobhan!
