she's sick, and I'm going crazy

I don't know how many of you remember my frantic post last week -- Sylvia had developed all sorts of new sensory issues and was crying uncontrollably for hours at a time. Well, Saturday night she developed a fever, and she's been sick ever since. The fever occassionally goes away, but then shoots back up again -- it's been as high as 103.5. This is the first real fever Sylvie has ever had, so I can understand her feeling really uncomfortable and scared. It also might explain some of her behavior last week -- I don't know how long she's been coming down with this before the fever finally manifested.

But the past few days have been soooo hard... Sylvia is barely eating a thing, and I have to really cajole her into staying hydrated. Plus she's been very needy, and it's been hard for me to pay any attention at all to Sebastian (who is so far feeling fine). Last night Sylvia's fever shot up at 3am; DH and I both had to hold her down in order to get the Tylenol into her mouth, and she was so upset afterwards that it took her an hour to calm down enough to fall back asleep.

Then, the kicker today... She woke up at around 8:45am but didn't want to leave her bed. So I let her stay there, and I checked on her every so often (and made her drink some sips of water). At around 10:30 this morning I went up to check on her... and found her squatting on the floor, all her clothes off and her pullup around her ankles... and an enormous poo sitting in the middle of the carpet. She also, of course, had poo on her fingers, in her hair, on the bottom of her socks, and smeared on the books she was reading. AAAAAAAHHH!!! I sat her on the toilet while I cleaned up the carpet, then cleaned her off and helped her get dressed again. Of course she's screaming the entire time because she just wants to go back to bed. The crazy thing is that, since she's been stripping off all her clothes recently, and this week is school vacation, we had been planning on trying to switch her to underwear this week. We were all ready for "potty week," but since she got sick on Saturday night we had to abort the plan for now. And so today, when I'm telling Sylvia that she has to keep her pullup ON, she's screaming, "OFF!! OFF!!!" because she doesn't like the feel of the pullup. But this is the 3rd time I've had to clean poo off her floor! What am I supposed to do!?!?

*sigh* I just called DH at work and told him that he's using one of his vacation days tomorrow because I'm seriously going to lose my mind if I have to do this by myself for another day!!!

Slowly going insane,

Jennifer
