My AS son has been doing something lately that is really weird. It's happening often enough that I'm starting to worry. I'll ask him a question about a choice, like, "David, I am making some toast. Would YOU like a slice of toast?" He'll say, "YES!" enthusiatically, and I'll say, "Okay, one slice of toast for David, coming up!" A few minutes later, I come out of the kitchen and set the plate on the table, "Your toast is ready, David." And he says, "I didn't WANT any toast!!" He insists that he never said he wanted any.
Sometimes it's not just a matter of him saying "yes" to a choice, but actually stating his choice. I'll ask him what he wants for a snack, and he'll say, "Spicy Hot Cheez-its, and bring plenty of Ovaltine, because they are spicy!" A few minutes later, I bring him the snack, and he insists that he never said that he wanted that stuff.
I can't figure it out. Is he really forgetting? Or is he changing his mind, and then dealing with it in a strange way? Or am I going crazy?
He has been on Trileptal for about two years now, and I wonder if this is a side effect. I suppose I should mention it to the dev. ped...although I hate the idea of switching meds. I never noticed this before.
Any thoughts are appreciated.

Well, my ds isn't on any meds and he does that too.
Actually he has been doing it forever....saying yes to something, then I bring it, then he screams he said no.
