Ok, I do this every yr. I get so anxious and worried about the new school yr starting. I lay in bed each night and can't sleep with all the what ifs running through my head. My main what if this yr is Kyle's aide. His aide from last yr was wonderful but she couldn't take the job this yr because they want him to have a full time aide. She has a disabled child herself and full time just doesn't work for her. As far as I know they haven't hired anyone yet. I saw the ad in the newspaper which means they couldn't find anyone already in the district. If its in the paper they are getting desperate. What if they hire any old smo who's got no experience and is awlful? What if school starts and they haven't hired anyone? I'm going to try to call the principal tomorrow and see how they are coming along. I was just wondering if anyone's been in the situation where school has started and they hadn't hired an aide yet.

((((HUGS))))) I hope your fears are unfounded and someone great is out there for your son! I'm starting to worry a bit about my son's placement and the teacher they've decided to place him with. I have called and asked to have a meeting w/ his teacher and then set up some time for him to come in and meet her and see the classroom and ask for anything special he needs. I'm hoping his teachers from last year w/ meet w/ the teacher(s) for this year and help them understand him a little since they know him in the classroom. I have to call the special ed coordinator this morning and get something set up.

Well, I'm not sleepless yet but I am concerned because I have not seen a BIT of an IEP or anything of the like and no one is anywhere to be found in the district.
It sure would be nice if the worrying was all for nothing! I'm having a hard time getting a hold of anyone too.
Hey, about the OT, if he needs a daily sensory diet it can be done. My ds gets Wilbarger deep pressure/joint compression daily at school, a move-n-sit cushion, & scheduled breaks to either calm or energize if he's running too low. Just keep fighting for it. A good way to ask for it is its what he needs to continue access FAPE in the least restrictive environment.
