Snif snif, sad news

My favorite principal is leaving for new adventures (new school) on Friday. I love this lady. We have actually been through alot together and it is hitting me now that she is leaving. She keeps asking me to move to the school with her and I am darn tempted if it wasn't a half hour away. Of course they have 6th grade there so I may have her check out the day class for Mike.

When we first moved to this school (initially just Cait in 4th grade) I had some trepidation and I called prior to the beginning of the school year. Mrs. Lopez called me back herself and invited Cait and I for a tour of the school that she would give herself. While we were there all sorts of kids ran up to her and she took the time to talk to each one with delite. She made us feel very welcome and made sure to place Cait with the best teacher in the school. It was Cait's best year ever.

She was so very understanding with Mike. Never was there talk about kicking him out and she was always there when he had problems. Never did she blame me for them. In fact often when I arrived she would give me a hug and make sure I was ok. Once she drove my other 2 kids home when the teachers had to help me drive Mike home.

Last night I found out that our current assistant prin. will likely be taking over the spot. I like this woman ok, but she doesn't get it like Mrs. Lopez does. She is the one Mike's teacher keeps having to intervene with to make sure she doesn't give him citizenship reports and such. It wasn't the person I had hoped would be taking over and now the principal leaving is a reality and I am sad, snif snif.

But what do you do. Change happens.

I am so sorry Renee. We just went thru this principal change this year. Sravan's old principal is everything you described. Like you did with Cait, we brought Sravan to see if this school is the right fit for him after our previous school totall disaster. I still haven't had too many encounters with new as the teacher seems to be handling most of Sravan's issues as of now. Time will tell.

Hugs again. MAybe you should do another mini IEP and be clear about this citizenship report.

I know how you feel.......both Vaughn and me miss his guidance counselor (Mrs. G) from last year. Vaughn is in a new school this year.....our district has a seperate building for elementary (K-2) and intermediate (3-5).......Mrs G was an absolute angel.....she was Vaughn's "safe person".....whenever he got overwhelmed, he knew he could go to her office......she acted like an one-on-one aid for him. Son sought out the guidance counselor in his new school when he was having a bad day......she told him she was too busy to deal with him and he needed to go back to his room and behave......his response was......"she is definitely NOT Mrs. G"......the day just got worse from there......we are still looking for his safe person at the new school......everyone is just too busy.....so I've been told.

I hate change too.....
