How did the eval portion go today with your little man? I know you were going down today for the testing part of it right?
Wanted to check in and see how it went. Hope you enjoy the show. Is it tomorrow?
DANG! I never called you back yesterday. I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sorry and now it is too late! GRRRR. I am officially mad at me. DARN ADHD brain that is overcommitted.
Renee
ps. OK I just saved your cell to my cell so barring any absence of brain cells tomorrow I will call you.

Renee,
I can't sleep!!!! The evaluation was very enlightening for me. She told me she was soooo glad that she got to observe him in school. She saw a lot of social issues. Things that I was unaware of. She thought the teacher's and staff had no idea of his social delays. I told her because he is very intellegent and speech is very good he has been overlooked. On the intellegence she said he was doing some 7 year old stuff. We ARE getting a diagnosis she just has to score everything, write her report and figure out whether it is Asperger's or PDD-NOS. She wants him to have services that checking the Autism box will provide. On the way home, we were stuck in the merge. Liam's car window was open. He saw a man throw something out of his truck. So he tells me he has to tell him something. I said NO! No! But then he did it! Turned directly to the guy pointing his finger and saying "No throwing things out of your truck!" OMG I had to laugh. There I am just getting a diagnosis and Liam does this. You just gotta laugh!!
The other reason I can't sleep is that my FIL had a bad stroke on Thursday morning. He was just moved from ICU to rehabilitation room in the hospital. We may not know how badly he will be affected for a while. His left side has paralysis but his mind is as sharp as a tack. David is really, really upset. It is hard for me to see him like this:(
No worries on the phone call it has been so crazy around here. I just want to go for a beach walk soon. Are you up for that? I know you have lots on your plate now too.
Thanks for asking how things went. You probably got more than you bargained for!
Molly
oh ((((Molly))))
I have to tell you a story that your post reminded me of.
Doesn't matter much here which label in particular for services. There are 2 areas to get services, school and diagnostic center. Neither will take either AS or PDD-NOS straight off without doing thier own eval. Heck they won't take an autism without thier own eval. To get services you still have to meet thier criteria through their team.
Regional center will sometimes go off your private evals but they will independently review them and will want to meet the child themselves and go through a lengthy intake process none the less.
But yours is a point I have heard in many places. It certainly doesn't hurt ot have a strongly worded dx but here in Cali the only one that is really helpful is an autism dx.
