So what's up?
| Fri, 06-08-2007 - 11:05pm |
I admit it. It is friday. I am bored and organizing my desk.
What are you all up to this weekend? Anything exciting? What are you up to tonight?
Anyone go see pirates yet? We did last weekend.
Anyone figure out what to get the teachers for the end of the year? What about teachers you don't like? Have you done it yet?
How many end of the year activities do you have to attend?
What are your plans for the summer when this craziness is done?

Hey Renee,
Just posted about my Friday night meltdown. So I sit here with a rather large glass of wine(decided against xanax) and ice on my hurting eye. I will probably vege in front of the t.v. for a little bit then try to turn in early.
This weekend we are planning/packing for our fun trip to SF for this coming Tuesday:) Dh has a business conference mostly in Santa Clara though so only one day sightseeing in SF. It's Liam's first plane ride. We have always feared taking him on an airplane(lol). But we are feeling good about it now.
Liam will have summer school for 2.5 hours 4 days a week for 4 wks. We are doing a couple of science camps for him at the Rec ctr, the social skills group and I'm still working on swim lessons. I'm trying to change his horseranch lessons to afternoon because his summer school and then kindergarten in the fall will be in the mornings. I guess it is pretty difficult to change times.
I am planning to get gifts for the teachers, therapists and bus drivers this weekend. Maybe Starbucks giftcards and may check out Michael's for a bus photo frame. No end of year event this year. They have done it before but we will be on vacation anyways.
Actually I was thinking the summer is when the craziness will begin!!! Ha ha til he is in school a full day (in 1st grade) summer is more exhausting for me!
And don't forget dinner at that crazy ladies house! LOL. Perhaps the weekend after you get back. I will run it by DH. THe kids are off on Thursday and we leave the next MOnday for Big Bear.
I had myself a margarita and am mostly sitting here cleanign the desk, waiting for the kids to be asleep.
The end of our school year has been absolutely nuts so far. There were already 3 performances (put a short video on my blog iconnect page with a bit of each). Last week Cait went to Knott's Berry Farm with the 7th grade and Mike went to a cool pool in San Marcos on Wednesday. Next Tuesday Emily goes to the Wave, Mike graduates and goes to Brengal Terrace on Wednesday adn Dave goes to Brengal Terrace on Thursday.
Actually I was talking to Mike's aide and teacher. Other than a small glitch a couple weeks ago he has been great this time. USusally the end of the year is notoriously horrible for him. I think perhaps knowing that he is going to summer school at the country school in a couple weeks and being really comfortable with that is helping. I have no other ideas on why this year with so many changes he is handling it so well (knocking loudly on wood)
I still am amazed at the park the other day. He hasn't blended that well in I don't know HOW long. I thought I took the wrong kid to the park! Other than that little horsey thing and nearly knocking over that poor toddler when fixing the sand, he did ok.
I am thinking $5 gift card for starbucks for all the aides, $10 barnes and noble for the teachers, adn a BIG Wine basket with all the gift cards for his SDC teacher he has had for 3 years.
HOpe your wine is yummy

What are you all up to this weekend?
Hopefully ver little, my Mam just left yesterday and the house is a disaster and I'm wreaked!
Anyone go see pirates yet?
I heard pirates was crap-so we are waiting for the dvd. Will see Shrek 3 and Fantastic four though.
Anyone figure out what to get the teachers for the end of the year?
School's over here, we did Target carsd(easy) and I avoided the ignorant busdriver by dropping Liam off and picking him up the last day, hee hee
How many end of the year activities do you have to attend?
We had one for each boy, but I was late to Cian's....looong story, so we didn't make his. He wasn't upset, lol
What are your plans for the summer when this craziness is done?
Liam has 3 weeks of spec needs camp broken up, along with 3 super saturday's (all sensory based, swim, fish and hike). Cian had a week of camp already and will have one more at the end of July. We are hittin' the beack the last weeof June....yea!!!!
I shall be attempting to tan for the 32nd year....lol

What are you all up to this weekend?
Leaving to go up to Hippylady's in about an hour. This weekend we're emptying the old house of her stuff and disconnecting all the line sets (electrical and plumming), etc. Camping in the yard in tents and vans (Yeah for new van that lets Angel and me do that!). Should be an experience. Big BBQ tomorrow night to thank everyone that's helping.
Anyone go see pirates yet?
Don't do movie theaters. Well, drive-ins, but there aren't any around here that we know of.
Anyone figure out what to get the teachers for the end of the year?
Year ended here already. Nice thing about homeschooling is that we only had 2 teachers to buy such things for: Jade's math tutor and Eva's Reading Club leader. We made small gift baskets for them with cookies, little photo albums of the year in pics, and gifts cards to The Coffee Bean($10), Walmart(10... and taped to handmade flower pots with ironwoood saplings), and Baen Books($20). Bad thing about homeschooling.... the parent-teacher never gets a present.
How many end of the year activities do you have to attend?
Just a small potluck party at the city park for Reading Club. We brought 200 cupcakes!
What are your plans for the summer when this craziness is done?
Pretend I'm Ty Pentington and build a house for a Hippy who needs one. Redneck Extreme Hippy House Make Over! (I think I hear chainsaws in the old house's near future)
Gota go, have crew will travel.

Right now I'm trying to recoup from the craziness of the week! Tomorrow Noah turns 10, so I'll need to get off my butt soon and figure out a cake, etc. Since we're still in my hometown (as opposed to where we actually live) we'll be having some of my family come over to my moms, which will be nice for a change. Typically DH's family gets to celebrate the birthdays, etc.
Didn't buy gifts for the teachers this year. Instead, I bought Claires 1:1 a really nice 14k gold pendant. It's a yellow gold heart with a smaller pink gold heart in the middle. She's been such an amazing gift to our family, I opted to spend $100 on her, rather than $30 a piece on the other teachers. Besides, in many ways, that pendant serves as a bit of "Goodbye Gift". KWIM?
Didn't seen Pirates...would like to, but won't. Saw Shrek 3, thought it was fair at best and understood all the bad reviews.
It appears my summer is going to be a mess of confusion and disarray. I just want to get the house sold so I can breath again.

you must be bushed after a family weekend. I spent most of mine cleaning as well. Finally getting off work in a couple weeks and done with school. I steamed the grout in the kitchen and cleaned the oven, etc. Did yard work. Picked up the new door. etc etc etc. Cleaning sucks cause it seems like I worked all day at it and there is so much I want to get done and have no time to do it.
I liked Pirates but I don't think I can bear a shrek 3. UGH. That gets terribly old after a while.
Hope you are now rested after your weekend of cleaning after a week of hostessing!
GL on the tan. Ya know it is near impossible not to get one in SoCal? Just saying in case you want to visit or anything.

HOw cool you guys are working on getting the hippylady new digs. That is awesome. Send her my love! Tell me all about the new digs and Extreme Makeover, Hippy Edition!
As always candes, you went way beyond my end of the year plans for teachers, lol. I plan on giving Annie a basket filled with wine and goodies but she has been with Mike for 3 years. THe others are all getting gift cards to either starbucks or barnes and noble. Havent figured which way I am going with that yet this year.
Have fun under the stars, or by the time you read this....hope you had fun under the stars.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NOAH!!!!!
THE BIG 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That one hit me hard too. double digits. OY! HOW dare they grow up on us! So far my hardest have been 7, 10 and 13. 7 Cause they officially seem like BIG kids, 10 because of the double digits, and 13...well that speaks for itself. TEENS!
Hope he has a great birthday. So nice to spend it with the other part of the family since you are able. How wonderful.
GL on the house sale and moving stuff. I hate moving (did it WAYYYYY to many times). I feel your pain. I told DH he had to bury me in our backyard this time cause he is never getting me to move again, ever, ever, ever.

Your and your health. GiRL I am gonna kick your butt when I can find it. Get healthy for gosh sakes!
We have a thing where Christine and Family used to come over every Friday Night. Well when I got low about a year ago, and her dd became a senior and she was really busy it started to stop happening. Now we still get together but not every week and wouldn't you know STILL every week not only do the kids ask but even DH asks if they are coming over. GEEZ. Aspies and their routines. It has been like a year and now it is more 1x a month than weekly though we would like weekly.
Our problem is it was 1) always at our house. Theirs is much smaller and then they were doing lots of repairs and coulnd't have us over. It is a HECK of a lot of work for me to do every dang week without help and 2) we are both terribly busy. This week the girls had a play practice on Friday totally ditching that idea.
So instead Christine and I have coffee on friday AM's at panera with another friend. This is ending soon as school is out. bummer.
