K this weekend I was looking thru Chris's stuff from school, papers, notes from teachers, report cards ect, trying to build a case to where I can get chris a very deserved IEP.

Well I found the tests the school did when he was in 2nd grade.

Likely not.

IQ scores aren't considered accurate until after 8years old. That combined with IQ scores always have a range around the score to count for "Standard Error of Measurement". In other words there are errors in every test and every administration of the test so while an IQ score may come out at say a 110 there will be a range also given with a statement that there is like a 90% accuracy of the true score being between x and x. A guess would be like 106 to 114. The next IQ which was 100 but had a 90% accuracy range from say 96 to 104 or so it may not be that big of a change. It is even possible some of the scores would over lap.

Plus as mentioned earlier as he gets older it would get closer to his true score. Mike did not have an IQ score at 5 because they gave him the wrong one but we know it would have been very high. Currently his full scale IQ is not even considered accurate because he has such a huge range within his subtests that it is impossible to really come up with a true score for him.

I am guessing a "drop" for the Matthew effect would have to be at least 1 standard deviation (or 15 points) and I think there would have to be numerous factors pointing to his decreasing or slowing of skills. IQ scores are not terribly accurate actually.

What would be more telling is how he did in separate subtests and those changes. You would need to show his decline in skills in more than one area or with a larger decline I would think. Look at his "achievement" test scores. That may be the area that you get the supports. That tells what he actually knows and has learned. These are things like the Woodcock Johnson test of achievement (that is the standard one) and gives you reading levels, etc.

These will have a standard score which will be anwhere from say 60s to 130s. If any of the main scores of those have dropped off significantly which I am guessing they have, then you may have some tools to argue with.

Okay Renee, thanks, I will go look at the subtests and achievement scores and see what they look like.

Yes, even if it won't help support my fight, it will certainly show I am not going to go away just like that.
