For those of you who have been "witnessing" the soap opera that is our family's attempt at relocation, here's an update-

As of this evening, my DH has turned down four job offers. (And I'm sorry Dee, but the list included the Atlanta offer.) Actually, he turned his choice of two opportunities in Houston, one in Atlanta, one outside of Charlotte, and one in the Quad Cities (Iowa/Illinois). The offers were all good, but none were great- and when considering them with other current family issues (some medical stuff going on with my mom and Claire's current state of instability) it just didn't make sense to accept any of them at this time. The bright side is we learned that we really love Atlanta, and could certainly see ourselves living in Houston and certain areas of N.C. as well. Which means that future "relocation exploration" will probably focus on those areas again. (Don't give up hope, Dee! We might still make it your area!!!)

There's one more opportunity on the table, and if this isn't "the one"- we're going to pull back the efforts until next April, as it's getting too close the start of the school year and I'm extremely opposed to pulling the kids mid-semester/mid-year.

I'll be honest and say that while I hate the idea of staying here any longer than necessary, I'm relieved by the prospect of being able to NOT think about relocation for a few months. I'm a bit sick of research at this point. Between researching schools, housing markets, autism services, medical services, bi-polar disorder, molluscum- ugh, I've spent upwards of 6 hours a day on the computer and I'm just plain worn out!

So...there's the scoop. I'm off to catch a couple of hours of sleep before waking Claire up at 4:00 a.m. for her sleep deprived EEG. Now THAT ought to be a load o' fun!

Dear Amy,

Man oh man, you've been having a time like ours of the last 10 months, although we here are really resisting relocating, even as many friends and family suggest it often. First and foremost on our list of why not to relocate : Can't replace those buddies of Malcolm's!!! Like gold, all these kids are. Second : his psychotherapist of almost 4 years, and the other terrific Dept. of Ed. therapists he's been with this homeschool year... AND Third : I JUST DON'T WANNA LEAVE MY HOME!!!!!

Anyways, just wanted to send some loooove your way, take a break, lady, if you can, have some fun for a few days. Glad to know where you all are, even if it's still kinda in limbo. Good luck today with the (zzzzzzs) EEG.

Well, I won't say I'm not DEVASTATED! ('cos that would be rude,...ahem;)

Actually in the grand scheme of things I guess this is second best, as at least you haven't move somewhere else. However, I totally understand your situation; I remember how important is was we were in one place while Liam was being dx with the mood disorder. And yes the stress of moving, selling, buying, packing, etc etc is the most exhausting process.
