GUESS WHAT!!!!

HE got in AND I guess it isn't all that hard. I was told by the Sports Manager that the vast majority of Athlete's they have are HFA and that they take AS as well. Heck even Cait would qualify!!!!!

So I have brought the medical forms to the dr. and am waiting for a call to pick them up. Then I return them and we are good to go.

Swimming, track and basketball all start next but are at similar times. He wants swimming the most so we are going with that one first and foremost.

The only downer is the vast majority of athletes are also over 30. They are making a new big push for those under 20 and I have made a few calls so we shall see.

Best of luck to Mike++++++

That's great news, Renee! I hope this works out for Mike, it may be just the thing.

I've been wondering about the Special Olympics for the future. The only person I know involved here is just like you were saying, an HFA 30-something adult.

He's a really interesting person, my favorite bagger at the local grocery. He always looks for me and as we are unloading my groceries we always talk about what he's been doing in the Special Olympics. This guy does weight lifting and basketball. He's really into it, has friends from it, gets to travel. It seems to be his main interest. For this young man it seems to be such a positive thing in his life.

Let us know how it goes!
