My DD does this all the time "I hear a funny smell" I think it is just that she gets the senses mixed up and she is a bit lazy and wanting to move on to the next thing -knowing that Mom will know what she means. She has a little friend who constantly corrects her on this stuff, which is kind of funny.

There is a phenomenon (probably more than one) and I forget the name of it, but it involves people seeing numbers as colors and also one about the senses getting mixed up. I know some Atuies/aspies have the 'numbers as colors' thing including one whose Mom posts here.

My DS who is Autie would never DREAM of saying something incorrect. He

Cait has a bit of of the synethesia thing, pretty cool stuff. However, with the other phrases I think it may be more of a language thing than a synethesia thing though it may be hard to tell until she is older.

I hate to say it but you may want to look into getting her evaluated just in case. How is her receptive langauge? Does she understand when you ask her a question?

The reason I say get her evaluated is a just in case. It may be nothing but AS tends to run strongly in families and AS kids tend to have some odd language quirks and can often sound like adults. We put off getting Mike evaluated when he was young because he wasn't like his sister and we just thought he had a bad role model. It was a huge mistake and now I am definitely the advocate for if you have ANY question or concern then get them tested.

You may want to consider a private one though cause regional center is not always good with kids who just have some quirks to language. They will see she has enough words and not look into her usage of them. If you get lucky to get a good RC evaluator then that would be good but it is kind of a crap shoot in my experience.
