Last week we took Nathan out of school and I stated homeschooling him to day. I went ok. The only thing is that our dog was very distractive to him and he won't sit still for very long, but in all it went ok. I hope that it will go ok later down the road. I want to get rid of the dog because we are getting a Autism Dog and I don't think it will be a good thing to have him. But if I get rid of our little dog it will be a nightmare. What should I do? I think that I should. Anyway I will give you updates.

Mindy,

It has only been one day. I think it is a bit drastic to think about applying permanent changes to your family setup so soon. It could be that once you get into the routine of homeschooling, the dog will be less of a distraction. There are also likely plenty of things you can do to keep the dog out of sight, such as moving his bed.

I also think you should talk to 4paws4ability about your current dog. I'm sure they have introduced a service dog to a home that has already got a pet dog in place. Yours will not be the first. They will have some tips and guidelines, I am sure..
