Okay, other than the occassional growl when he doesn't want to or like doing something, Victor doesn't really stim at all. The last week, I've gotten notices about him licking students on the bus and in classes, seen him wringing his hands, and he's started clearing his throat, ALL the time. I'm wondering, Dad flies out Thursday. Is this all his way of dealing with that stress, or is he regressing? Should I be worried? When I notice these things, I realize he needs to be wrapped up in a big hug. If that doesn't work, we automatically remove him from the situation he's in.

Hi Alexis!

We just had Nick's appointment with his dev ped yesterday and he said all of Nick's behaviours lately that have caused him issues at school can be classified as a stim and are a result of stress and/or his level of excitement.

I think it sounds like the stress is the reason for the increased stimming! We have seen so much more stimming since school started. Knowing his dad is going overseas has got to be stressful for him and having the date looming ever closer is stressful for everyone.

(((HUGS))) hope things settle down soon! ((((HUGS)))) for your DH going to Iraq!

I feel your pain about the teacher. I feel like even though she is aware she just does not get it.

I agree my son does a lot of body movements and noises in class that that are distracting, but I know how that he copes.
