I can't even really explain why since they are all doing pretty well, but since school started I have been in a constant state of stress and anxiety. I am not sleeping well, having dreams about autism. Have a slightly nauseaus, headache and tight feeling in my chest all day. I am trying to get extra exercise, do some meditation and take extra omega's. God it has to help soon or I will never make it through this school year.

I think it must just be the start of school. I now officially have 3 on IEP's in regular school, one in middle school and we are looking at mainstreaming Mike again soon. The kids are all doing pretty good. Dave and Mike are doing great. Mike always does really well the first few weeks so I am only cautiously optomistic. Cait definitely is having her issues in middle school but all in all is doing as well as I could have hoped and her aide is right there to help and is really good. I have to be up at 5:30 for Cait and spend the next 4 hours in state of getting kids ready and bringing them to school at thier set time. Plus I got roped into the PTA board, volunteering, still finishing house projects, etc and trying to keep the house clean and organized so the kids can keep to thier routine and schedule. And doing homework with them, keeping on top of things. OY!

But I feel like I am constantly waiting for the other shoe to fall. Just needed to vent. If it doesn't go away by the time DH goes back to work next week I am going to make an appointment with my general doctor and make sure nothing is going on and it is just stress. I think I am coming down with something too and that doesn't help.

Oh, and I need to find a way of making some extra money. Our mortgage is adjustable and it adjusted very much badly.

I've often thought we really are kindred spirits! :-)

Actually, my degree is in anthropology/sociology w/ a heavy minor in psych, a minor in economics and another minor in PE-- very strange combo but I really thought I'd be going to grad school (but DH wasn't about to have a long distance relationship and love won in the end) and I still didn't know what I wanted to do when I grow up, still don't. What I'm thinking of doing is going back and getting a general ed teaching cert. I'm not sure how long it'll take--bout 2 yrs I hope but probably more-- I have to look into it so I can start next semester. Then I'll get some teaching job and maybe go on to get my masters in guidance (I really would like elementary guidance) while I'm working. I'd still be able to be home when the kids are home and I wouldn't be tied to one classroom. This is the closest I've come to a "plan" in the last 13 yrs so I don't know if I'll stick w/ this one or not but it's starting to formulate and take shape in my mind. I just have to figure out the specifics. I worked in mortgage banking before children and when Warren was a baby. Not exactly teaching. Then when Warren & Amelia were little I did child care in my home and did lots of child care training workshops. Sort of in the field but....

SC has a program right now for people that have a bachelors degree and a couple of year of work experience. You can get a job and apply for PACE certification. Basically it's a fast track cert for people in the highly needed areas-- math, English, Science, Technology, PE, etc. This certification only takes a year to complete and you work in the teaching field while you're doing it. My degree is not one on the list, of course.

glad you're on your way!

Ok, send me an email and we can stop boring the board with our future frustrations at being the old lady on campus. LOL

a href=mailto:rbaer4@sbcglobal.netrbaer4@sbcglobal.net/a or add me to your yahoo IM if you have it. Same addy.

How much would it take to be a school psychologist or school counsellor with that background? Still within you degree area but on the same schedule as the kids. I know, I was thinking of changing my career completely but the thing I always said with teaching is that I would be on the same sched. as the kids and that is important to me. If I am not SAHM then I want to be here when they are.
