Stressed!!!!!!!

Hi all,
I haven't been around much lately because of house hunting which ended up being a very traumatic experience because one of the houses I looked at was infested with fleas which got in my car and I now have to treat my house because I'm so paranoid I brought them in with me. The best part is we don't even have animals. We did end up finding a house and settle August 25th which is less than a month away. I've been trying to prepare Jake as much as possible and when we go next week for the inspection I'm going to take pictures and his therapist is going to make something up for him about the move. Between getting school set up and all his files forwarded my head is spinning and I have yet to deal with Ellas stuff which needs to be sent from E.I. I did get good news today. You probably don't remember but at Ella's well appointment her doc gave her a hearing test which she failed. Today I took both kids to a specialist and they both passed. Also, Ella's speech eval went well. She came out almost 10 months ahead for both expressive and receptive. She still has some quirks but all her therapists think she's not on the spectrum so I decided to postpone her developmental eval at CHOP for right now. I really think it's all sensory stuff with her and even that has improved to the point where her OT is having a hard time justifying her being here.I will try and check in again soon. I miss talking to you guys!

Hey there Theresa, long time no see.

On the fleas, best thing to do is vacuum daily for 2-3 weeks. Put the vacuum outside after you are done or imediately toss the bag outside so the buggers don't get back in. That will go through a whole life cycle of them and stop the problem in its tracks. It is the best way to do it without exposing kids to chemicals. If you haven't had any bites yet while in your house you probably didn't get them. Give it a good 2 weeks though to be sure. If you don't start getting bites in that time you didn't bring them in the house. It isn't that easy to get infested or that hard to get rid of them.

Really good to hear about Ella. I am so glad you have had such good news with her! YEAH! Good luck with the move!

Hey Teresa,

We miss you too. I'm glad you found a place. Moving is very stressful, but exciting at the same time.

...and I am telling you and Dee right now, because these things come in 3s: If I get an infestation of ...anything. you are both in Big Trouble.

Good news on that hearing test. I know it was a worry for you. I think you are right to put Ella's eval off until things have settled a bit. Likely they will see the "stressed Ella" and not get accurate results, anyway.
