I wanted to thank everyone for support and positive thoughts when my son had a seizure two weeks ago.
Well, my very sensory and very oppositional nearly 4 year-old got through an EEG.
I really appreciate the advice I got to prep him for it. I had told him about the magic hat that he would wear, and that he would need magic goop. I drew him pictures of boys with wires coming out of their heads.
The hospital staff was wonderful, and always respected my comments. For example, when my son insisted on crawling down the hall, pushing his Thomas train to the EEG room, and said that the more time he spends crawling, the better he will handle this. Usually, the reaction to this kind of thing is a look that says "Mom's off the deep end!" Instead, the staff looked very pleased to learn that this would be helpful.
The staff allowed him time to get used to the room. ("Good idea!" they said, instead of giving me a "We have other patients!" look.) They let him touch the electrodes and wires. (Actually, he refused, and they gave him a lot of time to get to the point where he would touch them.) Then when my son found a safe

Oh sidney, I smiled thruout the whole story!!!

Sidney, that is AWESOME!!!!
OMG! I would
Thank you so much, Lainie. i think I felt you smiling!
It does feel good to be around people who get it. Of course, at a children's hospital they should, but should and do do not always go together. I was a VERY satisfied customer. I am certainly going to write the hospital and let them know how great their staff was.

Wow, wish I would have know yours was today too. Would have definitely been thinking of you.
Cait had a take home 24 hour EEG from yesterday to today. Not nearly as exciting an adventure as you had since it is old hat for Miss Cait and she knows the routine nearly as well as the techs. My biggest adventure was trying to eat In and Out with all the kids in DH's small car cause she was NOT getting out with that thing on. Oh and resecuring her hat and finally tying it under her chin yesterday cause it would JUST NOT stay on. lol. I have a picture I have to down load of cait in her gear.
Best luck to both of us to have good results.

Well I went to the childrens hospital in Madera with my son who has TS and it was the opposite experience that you have.
So you got some good guys there!!!!
Lainie
I would LOVE to see the picture of Cait in full gear! Especially climbing out of a packed car. I hope you were carrying bulky, awkward food for extra comic effect. (Rats, that would not be the moment that you had your camera handy, would it?)
I'm praying for good results for Cait and Mom.
