Today is Henry's last day of school, and I got his teacher a brightly colored mesh beach bag, a pair of flip-flops, a beach towel, and a $20 giftcard to Target. I got something similar for his kindergarten teacher last year, and she really liked it.

I was going to get a $10 giftcard since I spent money on the other stuff, too but my mom paid for it and said that half of it could be from her.

I have no idea about the bus driver, but someone had given the crossing guard (and the teacher's assistants who stop the kids from crossing the driveways when buses are coming in and out) bouquets of flowers. I thought that was sweet. I'm not sure if your male bus driver would like that, though.

LOL! I don't know what old guys like, either-- maybe a gift card there, Barnes and Noble or something like that.

A friend that's a teacher and has been teaching for almost 25 years once told me that trinkets are NOT something she likes getting. She prefers things for her classroom or something that is very thoughtful w/o staying around. We often do fun summer paper products (paper plates, napkins, cups and plastic wear) for a easy picnic. Gift cards for book stores-- then they can use them for themselves or for their classroom. Pencils or paper-- in fun designs. a flower (but not in a special pot or anything like that).

I hope this helps.

I often give gift cards to places like Target where the teachers can get things for either the class or themselves. This year I scanned some of Eric's artwork and had mugs and/or tote bags made. It was pretty cheap, about $15 each. With the mugs I flled up with stuff like homemade biscotti and a Starbuck's gift card. With the bag, I filled with school supply things. Then wrote a nice card and had Eric decorate the card.

For the bus driver, maybe gift card to Starbucks, whatever you think he'd like to eat. Bookstore card is a good idea too. Maybe put it with a cool baseball cap and some fun sunglasses or something?

I can tell you, like Betsy, what they don't want.
