We have been on vacation and I knew I needed to get more Goodnights for ds 8yo.

I spend a fortune in night time diapers for my son. He does not wake at night to pee and always poops in the diaper. He will not poop in the potty. He physically holds it until night time when he has his diaper on. I have tried to go without the diaper and he just holds it until he is impacted and then starts playing with it. At this point he uses TWO night time diapers per night because once he poops I have to put a new one on him or he gets a nasty blistering rash. It really frustrates me. I never thought my almost-6-year-old would be in diapers.

My son has autism, rolandic epilepsy (does not require meds), ADHD, and a possible diagnosis of oppositional defiant disorder. His behavior issues are HUGE and he is quite aggressive.

Sadly, I don't think anyone will be able to say when our kiddos will be out of diapers at night. I think it will just click and happen.

That's so interesting patience_is_a_virtue. My DD3.5 has a seizure disorder has the opposite problem. Once we weened her off, I can't tell you how her symptoms have IMPROVED. She started talking, and her sensory problems went form severe to moderate. She couldn't even talk and now she can. So interesting what meds to do each person!

We have epilepsy here and my 10 year old has had the occasional accident, he's outgrown most of it.

His med has been Trileptal since his dx at age 7 and the effects have been surprising.

I"m so sorry you're struggling right now. Depression is a real bummer, on top of everything else that's going on. I hope the p-doc has a good idea on what to do to help you, just don't lose faith. It may take awhile, but they have really good medicines these days. One of them should help, it's just a matter of finding the right one.

Hi I just wanted to let you know I have an almost 9 year old who isn't close to being potty trained and an 11 year old who I still use a pull up at night.

((Molly))

I've just spent the last half hour hiding under my blanket, crying about my own AS kid, so we can cry together.

I don't specifically remember when he stopped wetting at night, but it was something like 8 or 9. The doctor wasn't worried, but mostly it was a pain. If he simply peed into the diaper, and then folded it over and placed it in the trash can when he got up, that wouldn't be so bad. But every morning, he'd take it off, and throw the smelly, peed-in thing across the room towards his trash can. His aim was good, more often than not, but the weight of it would knock the trash can over, and he wouldn't pick it up. Oh, and he would never fold the diaper up, so nearly every day, it would end up lying face down on the carpet until I picked it up. The fact that he had no nighttime bladder control wasn't a big issue, but the slobbiness was.

Anyway, I totally understand the tears, and that it's not merely about bladder control. It's everything together, isn't it?

You are not alone.

Hugs,
Evelyn

My DS is 8 and still wearing nighttime pants, despite the post a few weeks ago where I said he done with them.
