Therapeutic Listening?

Has anyone used therapeutic listening thru Sonomas or something like that? I know that Jack's SLP is certified in it and asked about it since his school has a grant to have the program....THey started him on it last week for 30 minutes per day and as of the NEXT DAY, he was calmer in the classroom and home (at his usual antsy times) and wanting to share experiences with his teacher, which he never did before?!?

Has anyone else used this? HEard of this? Is this change in beh/emot. because of this or do you think it's a fluke?

Fingers-crossed that today was a great day too!

Kyle did theraputic listening at home 2 x day. We thought it was great! Kyle said it took the "shapness" out of his ears and his handwriting, balance, eye tracking, & coordination improved. Of course he didn't just listen. He also did exercises/sensory diet while listening (most the time anyway).

Malcolm also did therapeutic listening 2 xs a day for half hours for 2 years. Then he was "graduated" from it by the OT. He would listen during breakfast and in afternoon during homework or floortime play.

He did have big jumps in calmness and ability to converse during those times. But, it has always been hard to parse out exactly which therapeutic approach actually helped with what, as Malcolm has always had so many different therapies and interventions. I liked the way the listening helped him focus and relax. He still listens to music to relax when very stressed, useful tool!

Some kids react adversely, so then the listening is stopped. If the kid is not going to respond well to the listening, it is clear very fast, so why not try it?
