Sorry haven't posted in a while, been extremely busy.

Just wanted to post to give everyone an update on how ds is doing. He turned 13 in November so on top of dealing with his normal behavior problems we now have teenage behavior issues. As most of you know we had some major hurdles at the beginning of the school year, we implemented some new consequence's at home and over time they worked and he is doing very well now. The first report wasn't great but it was better than when he was in public school. I have a CSE meeting next week with his teacher and principal involved too. He has been doing so well and adjusted so well without have proper services at catholic school I am trying to see if he can get a P3. A P3 is basically when the BOE pays for a special ed teacher to come into his class for the classes that he needs the extra help in (mainly Reading, Language Arts, and Math), he would also get a tutor, and the social training and counseling he needs. The tutor and counseling parts I am positive will be approved it is the in classroom teacher I am not so sure about. That is because I am not sure the school will go along with it. He definately needs the in classroom help but his teacher is very strick and by the book teacher. She is fair yet strick, don't get me wrong that is exactly to kind of teacher Everett needs but she is very hard to budge on an issue especially when it comes to her classroom. I will let you know how things go.

For the most part, however, he has been doing better than I expected. In fact, his teacher has been able to improve his writing skills. He use to never be able to write down what was in his head onto paper. Previous IEP's I was able to get put into the IEP that he could dictate word for word what he wanted written to someone who would write it for him. This teacher has been able to get him over that hurdle and he can write what is on his mind on to paper. Along with coaching from me at home with assignments his writing has dramatically improved where he has gotten A's on a couple of papers. The only problem we have to overcome now is his handwritting which is really bad. I don't know what can be done about it. His handwritting has brought down some of his grades because his teacher is very strick about handwritting and what a 6th graders handwritting should look like. I have attempted to explain that his handwritting is bad because of the PDD/NOS but she will not listen. The principal will not let the kids do their assignments on computer because she feels that good handwriting is important. I can see her side of things, however Everett's handwritting isn't going to improve much. Any suggestions in that department would be greatly appreciated.

I have gone on longer than I had planned and need to get back work. I will try to post more often and keep you up to date on how things are going with school.
