For those with AS boys - how long is your son's hair?
- it's kept short, buzz cut
- it's kept short, with scissors cut
- it's medium length, just trimmed with scissors
- it's pretty long, sometimes trimmed
- it's really long, it never gets cut

WOOOOHOOOOO!
Good night for this! I just was able to trim Mike's hair again today for a family picture tomorrow. He had it long and wouldn't let me touch it for the longest time. Then finally a month ago he let me cut it and highlight it.
It took some convincing and preparation, but he let me do it today too.
WOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO
BTW, only I cut his hair. He won't go to a hairdresser or barber. He did for a few months a year ago but won't go back. He has been a total of 4-5 times in his life. Otherwise it is mom.

The one place Peter would go to cut his hair closed last winter, and he hasn't had it cut since.

I voted pretty long because it is pretty long for a boy......but I would define it more as medium length - It's only to the bottom of his neck and not long enough for a pony tail or anything. Though that is what we are shooting for......Sam wants it to be like a Samurai's, pony tail and all. But that is with the stipulation that he will brush it (or allow it to be brushed) every day and will wash it with little fuss. Right now it looks like those shaggy cuts all the boys in the Old Navy commercials have.
He will sit for a buzz cut now. He will go to the hairdresser but will not allow them to do around the ears so it's easier to just do it at home with my own buzzers. I do DH's hair too just because he is too lazy to go to the barber. I try to shape up their "dos" everytime I go for a trim.....every 6 weeks or so. It's easier now since Sam's growing it out to just shape it up more often then let it go and take a really long time to buzz it, which is what we used to do.

It's actually my NT ds who doesn't like having his head/hair touched, so we get it all buzzed off, and he doesn't have to worry about brushing it for a couple of months. He also doesn't like the way it feels on his head when it starts to touch his ears and forehead. He'll take scissors to his hair if I don't get it buzzed off in time. He has some slight sensory issues, so I'm sure that's why.
NLD/AS ds doesn't mind his hair getting a bit longer, but since he insists on brushing it himself (he'll sometimes reluctantly allow us to help), I prefer to get it all cut off, too, so it doesn't look as silly.
I've tried clipping my boys' hair myself, but they scream bloody murder. Fortunately we live around the corner from a barber who only charges $5 for boy haircuts (just went up from $4.50).
I actually keep Dave's hair pretty long. He has the cutest curls and looks good in a longer style. Right now it is highlighted and sun bleached. He looks like a beach bum. Quite fitting. He has a rather large head and looks like it with a buzz cut.
Mike doesn't look good in long hair and getting him to brush it and care for it is almost as hard as cutting it but on a daily basis so I am glad he allowed me to cut it. He can take care of it if it is longer a bit on top but not too long.

I got lucky.....we have a place round us that is specifically for kid's haircuts - the stylists are use to moving targets - PLUS the big bonus is that they have a model train set that runs - son will sit and watch the train go while getting his hair cut.....we lucked out. He doesn't like the clippers but he tolerates them if she is quick.
Christie - who hasn't been around much because I am stuck on jury duty....joy!!!
