Got this heads up via Autism Speaks
Check your local listings and set your DVR or Tivos
This week, the PBS series Independent Lens will begin airing the film “Today's Man.” The film follows Nicky Gottlieb, a former child genius diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome at the age of 21, over the course of six years as he struggles to leave the safety of his family's home and find his own place in the world. Read more about the film here and check local listings here.
**Sorry I've been MIA for a LONG time....a lot of drama here with Adam's support services and I've been a drained, emotional mess. I've been lurking, I just don't have to energy to post. I wanted to share a TV listing for all of you.
Nora

Nora,
Thanks so much for this link. This is the first autism related thing on TV that really looks worth watching to me. I watched a small portion of the preview and it really hit home for me when Mike is in one of his silly modes.
Now I just wish I had Tivo since it is on at like 11pm.
Renee
Thanks SO MUCH for posting this information.
Thanks for the heads up Nora :).
I watched this last night and it was worth staying up late for!
I also stayed up late to watch this program. Some parts of the program, especially when the dad talks about how Nikky was taken away from them and robbed the mom from Lizzie (older NT sister) and Lizzie's response recalled by the dad touched me greatly. Just before this program was aired, I watched "The Medicated Child" at 10pm also on PBS. It was about childhood bipolar diagnosis explosion and the medication the kids were getting for that. It was really scary. I have an appointment coming up for my PDD-NOS/ADHD son Justin about ADHD treatment, and I am going to stay away from any meds until I have tried everything else. It will be my last resort.

I was enthralled with this program. I see what "could be" with my son but time will only tell with any of our kids. I do feel the way his mother feels about him staying with me forever......since we don't have anyother kids ya know.
I really hope there will be a follow up to this video and reguards to how this man takes life head on.
