Oh, please send big hugs to Nathan for me....I think he did great considering the situation.

I do not understand adults that think they can just do all this weird scary stuff to any kid and think that they're going to go along with it without a blink. Unless a kid has been sick alot, I would expect some kind of difficulty. Blowing it off doesn't teach a kid anything. Helping them to stay calm and being understanding of the situation may though.

I much prefer a kid that puts up a fight with those kinds of things. Sam is that way and I know if anyone were to do anything that could potentially hurt him, he'd put up a big, howling fight.

I still hate the dentist because of a bad experience as a kid. I have to do deep breathing and alot of rationaly thinking when I go so I don't bolt out the door before I even get in the chair!

What great moms you guys are. Your the ones that will make sure your child will not grow up with a phobia like some of us did.

Give Nathan a big hug Evelyn. Poor guy. You did the right thing and stood up for him!

Evelyn,
WOW! Nathan going to school after such an ordeal. I would have taken Sravan home. There is no way he is going to behave well in school. Hugs to Nathan.

take care,

Awwww, poor thing. I think going to the dentist has got to be one of the worst things to have to do. I can't stand having dental work done. I think it dates back to when I was about 12 or 13 and had to get braces. The dentist and his assistant were less than caring about how miserable an experience that can be. In fact, at one point my gum had grown over part of my braces in the back of my mouth and they were having to dig it out. Instead of being compassionate, the dental assistant basically told me not to make such a fuss about it because it couldn't be all that bad! Well, she got her comeuppance later on when she had braces herself. Amazingly, she actually apologized to me and told me that until she'd been through it herself, she didn't have any clue how painful it can be at times. Anyway, that whole experience left me quite afraid of dentists. I hope that the next time Nathan has dental work done that the dentists and his assistants are more compassionate to him. They really should learn to put themselves in their patients shoes--especially children. And while I'm on this rant, the thought occured to me the other day--How many dentists do you think actually floss EVERYDAY!?! I bet they just have their hygenists clean their teeth more frequently. I guess they'd never admit that though, would they? Sorry, I don't mean to sound so cynical. I just couldn't help myself ;)
