Well, guess what...got another call from the principal...can you say P A N I C. Well, turns out it was a good call. His teacher did tell the principal you know if you call them you going to give them a heart attack. LOL. He so wanted to tell us. Dakota actually did a good thing today. This morning...usually mornings I guess are bad times for him...accidentally stepped on someone's backpack. A kid that he has troubles with that was in his regular classroom. The kid got mad and told Dakota that he was going to kill him. Dakota believe it or not..ignored him. What a good boy. Nathan actually was the one who got the call but when he told me who called yes I about panicked. LOL.

His parent/teacher conf went well. They are implementing a new behavior plan that will tie into home activities mainly computer time. Based upon how well he does, depends on how many minutes he'll get on the computer at home. So Dakota, my mathematician, calculated and explained...I could have 100 minutes of computer time! LOL So he seems to understand the concept...however if he hits...he automatically looses 20 minutes of computer time at home. So we'll see how this goes. They are to send home at the end of the school day how many minutes he earned that day. This is something the behavior specialist suggested. Positive thoughts.

We talked a bit about the behavior & she isn't completely convinced it's the Autism behavior side of it when it comes to the aggression. She says when she sees the autism flair up he usually isn't aggressive. He gets these "doe eyes staring at headlights" kinda look, I guess. She states when he gets overstimulated especially in the classroom, she says he actually withdraws inward and is panicky. Still it's something...perhaps the ADHD side of things?? Hum...she says its almost like an impulse reaction...an action w/o thinking when he hits or screams. I know its more than just being a typical 8 yr old. So I'm guessing more the ADHD part of him when it comes to the impulsive, aggressive behavior. I don't know...always trying to figure the boy out. Can give one a headache. LOL

So we are holding off having the autism consultant coming in. If the behavior doesn't get better w the current actions being taken, then we'll call her in. I'm okay w it. They aren't against the idea of her coming, they just want to wait to see if the new behavior program is going to work. I hope.

Oh, stopped & talked to his reg teacher as well since she was alone. She said she didn't want Dakota removed from her room. She is a little upset over it. She had spoken to the class early in the year that the class had to make an effort to help Dakota succeed. One poor little girl took is hard and personal when she felt she failed Dakota when he returned to the special ed room. Poor girl...it wasn't her fault and turns out nor was it the teachers, reg or special. More of the principal making the overall decision. *rolling eyes* Oh well, both teachers are hoping to give it a try again but not right now. However, the reg teacher sometimes will ask for Dakota if they are doing something in Science she knows he'll like. So that is cool. I feel better about the reg teacher since speaking w her. I hadn't heard from her at all during this whole ordeal so I didn't know her true feelings. I could only speculate.

I don't expect perfect days but I hope we get half way decent days.

Oh, yesterday I did a road trip to a place that is about 25 mins from me and took lots of pics. The place is called Camp Ellis, which was the 2nd largest training military camp during WWII. Most of it has been torn down but you can still see the ruins of the place. My grandmother and aunt had worked there during that time period. So lots of history. If you'd like to see pics of the ruins, check out my site: click on the pic

Well, hope you all are doing well. Still haven't heard about the OB RN job yet. The waiting is killing me. LOL

((((shell)))) I hope it gets better. How nice for them to call you about a good thing, even if it did just about give you a heart attack! I hope the behavior plan helps.

I loved your pictures of Camp Ellis. I know exactly where that is! My parents live about 15-20 miles north of there, just west of the Spoony. It looks pretty low right now. I know Dad has said there hasn't been much rain. You have a great eye for photography, thanks so much for sharing. What a neat thing to go do.

Hiya - I, too, hope things get better. Today I took the kids to Burger King & a kid from his "regular" classroom that he was in was there. The kid talked to me and Dakota. When Dakota was off & playing on the playset, the kid told me that he misses him & Dakota was his best friend. I was about floored. I know I heard Dakota mention his name before but never had I thought their relationship was at that kind of level. You can imagine how I felt. So I gave the kid our phone number & if he wants to play w Dakota, feel free to call us. He was so excited that he gave us his # as well. The kid mentioned he missed playing w him since their recess no longer coincide w another. Poor boys. Sure makes me feel good tho.

Wow...its a rarity that I find someone that knows of this place. It has a cool history and, I love the stories from my Grandmother, who worked there at the time. My grandparents currently live in Table Grove. It is neat to know that Camp Ellis was the 2nd largest training military camp during WWII.

Wow, How sweet that this boy missed Dakota so much! I'm really excited for both of them. I hope it works out!

My parents live west of Ellisville, south of Avon. I graduated from Avon High school and got the heck out. Tho now I wish we could live in the midwest and somewhere much nearer my parents. 900 odd miles is just too far. Dh accuses me of being related to 1/2 of Fulton County-- maybe we have some connections, LOL! He grew up near Dekalb-- and not near any relatives.
