I posted a week ago about me actually going to school every morning with my son and aiding him. I just wanted to update everyone.
So far the me being there giving him 1on1 is really helping. He gets all his assignments done and I am able to keep his behavior under control. He still sets in class and does work just like every other kid, but I sit beside him and guide him the whole morning. He was in full blown shut down mode yesterday morning. School had been out monday for holiday and Tuesday for ice. He also missed Wed. because he had a sinus infection, so Thursday was his first day back this week. I put him in the car and the first thing I hear is "I am not ready to go back" with tears in his eyes. Thursdays are the mornings that I don't aid him because I have to work. He has Therapy on Thursday's after school. (He goes to private school so I have to take him to another school for therapy.) I ended up staying with him for a hour in a half just to get him started. After that, he had a great day.
I stay and eat lunch with him and then I leave and go to work. I make sure all assignments are done before I leave so that the rest of his day goes smoothly. He is doing so much better! He just needed someone there to keep him on track and give him that 1on1 attention that he needs. The other kids have told me that they love me being there also. #1 because my ds is much happier and #2 I also help the other kids when I am not busy and the teacher is. When he starts getting moody and whiney I am able to stop the behavior immediately. I can also read his signs now and can tell when he is getting to overwhelmed and is getting rdy to shut down. We take a break then and let him relax.
Hopefully me being there will continue to help him. I have decided to do it until I am no longer needed.

What a nice thing to read!
I'm glad it is going well and that your son is getting great benefit from it.
