Hi ladies. I haven't posted in a while. The last two weeks have been very busy. Kyle turned 12 on Thursday. He got a Wii which we all love. Saturday he had 4 boys over for his birthday party. They played the Wii, ate pizza, jumped on the trampoline, and shot ds bb gun and bow & arrow. They all had a great time and Kyle did so well. I'll try to post pictures later.

School has been interesting to say the least. He still had some trouble even with the short schedule. They finally decided he could go in the self contained 8th grade room (Kyle is 6th grade) for LA and Math. Kyle will be the 6th student. We told him today and took him to see the room and meet the teacher. I'm not exactly sure what he thinks about it yet. He hasn't gotten to meet the kids yet. Its a mix of kids with MR, autism, and behavior. The teacher seemed really nice. There will also be Kyle's aide and two others. We would be happy to ditch Kyle's aide though. She isn't doing her job and they are out of complience with his IEP because of it. We are addressing that and I won't go into it all. Lets just say last weeks team meeting was very tense. Anyway, Kyle starts his new placement after Easter break. I think this will be good for him. If it goes well we will slowly add back time at school with less homeschooling. He will not be able to go back full time this yr though because its an eigth grade room & schedule. They don't want him going to 8th grade specials. So the most he can go back is 2nd though 6th periods. He will still be able to have lunch with his peers and maybe eventually PE.

We still have nothing in place for next yr. They are stringing us along saying IF the 5th graders coming over next yr need a self contained class then they'd set up a multi grade one next yr. They were put on notice that wasn't going to fly with us and they'd have to make Kyle's placement on his needs not some other kids'. We are working with an advocate now who is affilated with a laywer. We are giving them a couple more weeks to do the right thing before we make it a serious fight.
