I agree with you a million percent Rina. For me this is a very scary thing and I am glad it came after a time where any decisions where brought to me.

While I am glad that progress is being made, I find I wish more effort was put into the day to day life for people with autism.

That independent film that is in a different thread. When I looked it up online the thing that struck me the most was her comment about how there was little support and resources for adults who live with aspergers and autism. This is true. Most of the effort is put towards genetic type research and early intervention. While important (heck I teach early intervention in a preschool autism classroom) help for those who are older and to deal with the every day is just as important.

I want groups and help that will celebrate with me the little hard worked for celebrations as well as give me tips on how to keep track of my daughters retainer. Those who will understand WHY it is harder to keep track of my daughters retainer than it would be for a typical middle schooler. KWIM?

Bravo for your rant.

I do love that this article was posted here. I think it is an important topic for debate and this is part of that debate. I wish more effort and funding was put into how to help our kids on a day to day basis be the best person and most independent they can be rather than be so focused on cure or erradicating autism from our society.

Maybe I am being selfish. Since I already got em and love the ones I got I would rather have money spent on what they need, lol.
